The thing about traveling in Europe is that it’s hard (for Asians) the get enough veggies. Salads don’t count. So after a week in Europe, we wanted some Asian food. Pho was good, the beef tender, but I really liked the mushrooms and tofu dish.

This picture of the carved vegetable from glass is 10x the famous one from jade on display in the Taiwan National Museum.

A bit Chinese way of cooking due to too oily and cashew nut oil over used

I have had 100s times of Vietnamese food before back in Asia and in Europe. But I had a brand new experience at Saigon in Vienna.

One of the items we had was the chicken skewer platter (see photo). It is kind of like Mexican fajita where you put all ingredients like veggies and rice noodle into a wrap. Most interesting was that, as the rice paper gets wrinkled extremely easily, the restaurant would use a pile of plastic plates with lots of mini holes to separate each rice paper. Very intelligent idea. I just have never seen it before, maybe it is Vietnamese local practice.

My dad also loves the red bean ice with coconut milk. It also offers the Vietnamese drip coffee with condensed milk in case you fancy something other than the Viennese Melange.

Convenient location few minutes walk from the Naschmarkt and Karlsplatz U4 station.

We had never been to a Vietnamese restaurant before but it won't be our last. The food is similar to other asian cuisine, but superior in my opinion. The quality of food on offer was special and the staff were attentive without being intrusive.
