Ranked #34 of 123 Restaurants in Tromso
Certificate of Excellence
Price range: US$25 - US$61
Description: Welcome to our new restaurant in the heart of Tromsø city centre. A delightful place to eat in Tromsøs architectural diamond Kystens Hus- and a combination of good-dining and lovely scenery charm as rated by our diners. Proving to be a hit with our guests we still don’t know whether the private dining area next to our soon to be ready gigantic aquarium, a table by the window facing to spectacular view or the entrance overlooking the city center is the best place to enjoy our special arctic menu. Chef and his team have experimented and perfected the dishes that now make up our new menus for lunch and dinner. Whether it be for a special occasion or just a night out to spoil yourselves, join us and give this arctic menu a try. At the restaurant our focus is on personalized yet discreet hospitality where guests enjoy quality service and a special local seasonal arctic menu including reindeer, catch of the day and breathtaking desserts . Ingredients, sourced from local suppliers, are farm fresh where possible. In addition to an inviting wine list, the northernmost brewery in the world, Mack, really spoiling us with their arctic brew. Seating a maximum of 150 people it is open in the daytime and evenings daily and on Sundays for lunch. Our menu changes on a regular basis, also for vegetarians and gluten intolerant diets. Special requests are our chef’s delight.

We booked a table for dinner one evening and upon arrival we were warmly greeted by friendly staff.
There was a very pleasant atmosphere with a good harbour-side location. The menu was all reasonably priced (for Norwegian prices!) and complimentary bread was provided. The food came promptly and was very tasty - we both enjoyed the venison burgers. We left very satisfied with our choice and would recommend it to other travellers.

We chose the Fish Soup and Cod Tongues to start. The soup was plentiful but not hot enough and could have had more flavour. The Cod tongues were pleasant a bit over breaded and over cooked on the outside but still good inside, well garnished.
Our mains were the Halibut which was good although the Walnut Sauce overwhelmed the fish. Also the fish of the day which was an excellent bit of cod on a veg purée with unusually a gravy, some belly pork and some tiny sprouting broccoli, really a great dish. Our dessert was a Cloudberry and buckthorn creation, pleasant but unremarkable.
The decor was tired, the head chef looked bored, our waiters were lovely especially the young Swedish girl. It was over half empty and that probably told the story.

Thank Qwenduk

I was in Tromsø for a few days with friends. We didn’t realize that you need to make reservations. We got a recommendation to try Skirri as we were searching for restaurants. Fortunately we were able to reserve a table and I am glad we ate there. I had the reindeer burger and my friends all had fish. They were both wonderful. I also recommend the cod tongue for an appetizer. It was delicious. The staff was very friendly. Really the only complaint I have is that when we were ready for our check, we kept asking for our waiter but he had disappeared. Later we found out he had gone into the cellar to get stock for the bar.

Wonderful outlook over the harbour.
Good and friendly service, great sense of humor.
We had fried cod tongues : just try it, it’s delicious. As main course, they served us leg of reindeer, with red cabbage and mashed pumpkin and sweet potatoes. Good combination, but too much to eat!
Kitchen is a bit slow, we had to wait a long time to be served.
Expensive bill, as everything in Norway.
