The roof at the Opera is a great place to have stunning view over Oslo`s harbour. It is set up with both stares and "flat roof to walk at , and there is a lot of places to be served in the area. And it is all for free!

All the pictures seem to be the same, all from like the same 3 angles. In person, just like the Stortinget, its MUCH larger. We walked there from our hotel (CityBox, solid place, I have a review on that as well) and you pass by all these windows where you can see what goes on in the opera house. We saw costumes, set designs, all the cogs that make the magic on stage happen. If you go before 2020, you will likely see construction around the area as a bunch of new things are going up in that area (Munch museum is one such building). Another thing the photos dont really capture all that well is the extra details. It's not just flat marble with stairs on the side, no, it has little outcrops that give it texture and that extra iceberg look. On top of the roof you have a great view of the Barcode buildings and the harbor, it was magnificent !!

The Opera House in Oslo is architecturally on a par with that in Sydney, Australia. Both are unique in design and both are on the water. In addition, one can walk up the ramps that form part of the exterior of the Oslo Opera House to get some wonderful views both of some interior rooms and of the city and the harbor. The Oslo Opera House is, actually a house within a house. While one cannot see much of the inside of the Opera House or the very many behind scenes rooms (practice rooms for ballet, costume design rooms, the immense back stage area, etc.) except on the highly recommended tours that run each day, one is free to wander around the inside of the outer building that includes a very nice indoor and terrace restaurant.

Located along the promenade. Stunning building from afar with equally special interior. I’d say a must see place in Oslo.

There are not many buildings where you can walk on the roof, but this is one of them! It is not an easy climb, but the views are good (not as good as from Ekebergparken or Vigeland Park.)
We didn’t have time to go inside, we will do that next time.
We visited in midsummer. I would not want to do the climb in winter.
