Good location with free wifi, however overpriced for a small basic room which fails even to include towels. Another feature which I found strange was the requirement to make your own bed which is a task requiring a strong stomach as a number of hairs can be found under the mattress. Suggest you look elsewhere.

I spend two nights in the Marken Gjestehus. For an extremely reasonable price you get an incredible location, an super clean hostel and all the facilities you need in a hostel: Kitchen, common area, TV's, a small library. The service is very good and the Wi-Fi works really well.

Nothing flash. Just a great, cheap, clean hostel. Great choice if you ever find yourself in Bergen.

I had never stayed in a hostel before, but because we were having a late check-in one night and an early check-out the second, we thought we'd try it out and save a little money. The location was very good with an easy walk to Bryggen and the train station. You have to pay extra for towels and sheets, but it was still a pretty good deal and everything was kept clean. The room was small, but also clean. There's a large room with individual rooms for showers, so that is private. Each shower room can't be cleaned after each person, so do expect a little messiness there, like hair around the shower drain, but generally things are kept clean. I don't think I'd stay in a hostel again, but if I did, I would have no problem staying at this one.

Stayed a night before and after my Iceland trip. Near the central bus station where you can take the airport express bus. About 10-15 mins walk to Bryggen for food, drink, view, and you can also hike the mount Fløyen. There are also restaurants, bars and shops near the guesthouse. Rooms are clean with nice pantry with a coffee vending machine, and a separate lounge area with computers. Many washrooms and bathroom's around the common area.

Well i never thought that i would be writing a great review for a guest house or hostel, after staying in 5 srars but this little gem deserves all the acclaims. It is in a good location, one side 10 minutes to the train and bus station plus shopping mall, and on the other side 10 minutes to the fish market harbour and bryggen. Oh ans also it is near the old leprosy hospital!! On arrival you are given clean laundered bedding as you make your bed yourself. Plus you can hire a bath towel. I was in a room with twin beds. Very pleasant, simple but clean. The wc and showers are aling the corridor, also spollessly clean, snd then you have a communual lounge, dinning rom and kitchen gully equipped. Again so clean.... The other thing that i found astonishing is just how quiet it was, i was honestly worried about this problem especially with back packers and students, but i had a good sleep. The receptionists and staff are very pleasant and are ver efficient. You are given plenty of maps and advice. If you dont want to make your own breakfast you can just pop around the corner to 'marken' and you will find 'brod goot' and they supply great rolls, pastries and coffee. I stayed 3 nights here and would certainly return. The price is cheap with high standards. I am sure that they will win yet another award for 2016.excellent wifi

Room Tip: Room with a view of the mountains
