Description: Nama is the oldest sushi restaurant in Bergen. Since the opening in 2001 we have continued to deliver top quality sushi since day one. Part of our success is a steady focus on high quality ingredients and accessories as well as creating a nice atmosphere and good service. After a massive refurbishment of our restaurant we are now proud to open a new fresh Nama restaurant. The interior is designed by architect Einar Samuelsen. The Menu is inspired by our other Asian restaurant, the critically acclaimed Hanami in Oslo. The menu is updated with several exciting news such as the robata grill, a cocktail menu and a new improved sushi bar. We wish to be the best sushi restaurant in Bergen.

Their signiture nigiries was too experimental, It lost its own role. They put fruity sauce on one nigiri that I couldn't taste the rice, and soy sauce had no purpose with it. It can delight who is not familiar with taste of sushi, but definitely not for serious sushi eaters.
Amount of edamame was too much and some of them was too dry.
Sashimi was quite okay, but I have no idea why they served fermented one instead of fresh. in BERGEN.
Edamame paste which comes with pan grilled fish can be repulsive because you already ate tons of edamame.

Overall, flavor wasn't sophisticated, menu wasn't thoughtful or chef didn't try full course himself, staffs were kind enough, atmosphere was uncertain.

We live very close to Japan so often eat Japanese food ! we are always picky abt the restaurant when traveling arnd the world especially my husband! When we traveled to Bergen and want to hv Asian food after research on the reviews of tripadvisor we chose this restaurant. This one is really good one even the price is not cheap but the quality of food can match , must go try ! Absolutely will satisfy your taste

Me and my husband went to Nama for dinner and we were not disappointed.

We chose the tasting menu, which is where you pay 600/900/1200 NOK and the chefs put together a selection of different delights. We asked the waiter what the difference was and it´s the same amount of food, just the more you pay, the better quality. We chose the 900kr menu.

Not only did the waiter noted down what types of fish we didn´t like, but also fish and meats we were particular to. Every dish that came out to us was beautifully prepared and explained, the service was exceptional. Nothing was too much of a problem for our server. The waitstaff were punctual, cordial, and not overbearing.

The inside is wonderfully decorated with a very modern style and has a pleasing and enjoyable atmosphere.

We will happily come back for another round of the tasting menu!

Went with my fiancee to Bergen, and got a tip from a colleague to try Nama for good sushi and exciting food. We were warned it could be an expensive evening.

Nonetheless, it was worth every penny and every minute spent. The restaurant itself is incredibly classy - great design and good ventilation so there was no trace of the "raw fish" smell you often get in restaurants with an open kitchen serving fish.

The employees were top notch, giving excellent service and presenting each course before serving.

I strongly recommend this restaurant, and trying one of the tasting menus with a long series of magnificent meals one after the other. We also let them pick the wine for us, and it was spot on. One of the best meals I've had in a restaurant, and a perfect place to bring your loved one.

We are regular customers at "Nama" for special events such as hosting some visitors at our institute from the University of Bergen.
We have experienced very good service before - but also average service. But what we have experienced during our last visit can not even be called "service".
The food prepared at Nama has been throughout our visits very good - this is why we return to this restaurant. So here as usual the good evaluation. The white wine however is usually served too warm and I suggest to order 'ordinary' white wine and not exotic ones. Also - ask the waiter/waitress if the wine is indeed cold and return the bottle when the wine has not the right temperature.
During our last visit we took the Chefs choice menu (900 NOK) for all 4 persons at the table. We were sitting with the first course (Edamame Beans) for one hour and the wine did first not show up (although 3!) glasses were put at the table. Then the wine arrived and was too warm. We had to order a beer to have something to drink while waiting for the wine to cool down. The assigned waiter was totally incompetent and never ate in a good restaurant or knows what good service is.
We complained about the waiting - another waiter bought the next course - did not explain the dish and forgot also the soysauce for the nigiri. It means that it is a problem with the system - and not only the problem with one waiter.
We experienced another 45 minute waiting between the cold and the warm courses. The wine did not get refilled - I had to get the wine from the ice bucket. The first bottle was empty - I ordered the wine menu from a waitress. The menu arrived quickly - but nobody after to take the order. All this continued throughout the evening and got topped by the following: We have ordered a bottle of (cold) Sancerre. We got served our glasses once. Then we asked for the refill - the bottle was gone. We never know where this bottle disappeared - likely it got served to other guests... Given the relatively high wine prices in this restaurant (compared to other Bergen restaurants) this is a disaster... I stop here - and we will also delete Nama from our list of Restaurants...
