Eastbourne Riviera Hotel
Ranked #29 of 40 Hotels in Eastbourne
Reviewed 2 August 2017

This is a traditional seaside hotel, actually quite large, but I think it's kept mostly empty and not many rooms are sold. It could be wonderful, as lovely as the Grand Hotel just down the coast, but needs a lot of love and attention, and some interior and exterior design. On the plus side, we had a spacious room, which was clean and uncluttered, bright and light, with a nice well lit bathroom, and a view of the sea. Breakfast was fine. Service on reception is pretty poor and uninterested, certainly not welcoming or hospitable, really. The room was sad, but functional, and still has blankets and bedspreads. It's 2017 ! There are cheap soaps, plastic cups, only shampoo, plastic bins, an empty minibar, no bottled water or shortbreads or, again, any form of hospitality. Whilst a great location, a lovely old building, and the potential to be so much more, this hotel doesn't bother, which is a real shame. Still, we paid £105 for a room for 3 of us, including breakfast, so I am not going to complain.

Room Tip: We had 127, a family room which sleeps 3. Spacious and clean. Fine sea view.

We visited Eastbourne on an impromptu stopover. The Eastbourne Riviera hotel was pleasant, clean and the rooms were a decent size. The bar was empty of residents and the receptionist didn't speak very good English so lacked in atmosphere. Right on the beach front though so handy for the pier and bars. An ok hotel just nothing special.

Really impressed with the hotel from the moment we arrived. Great location. Within walking distance to everything. A Friendly receptionist greeted us immediately even though we was early for check in. Paid on arrival. The hotel looked lovely. Really nice feel to it. Very clean and really nicely decorated. Room was second floor, we took the stairs as the lifts are very small. We didn't mind as was only 2 floors and the stairs and hallways were nice and wide. Room was a delight. Bright, open planned, spacious and very clean. Has a mini fridge that we plugged in ready to use later that day. The bathroom was lovely too. The sea view was so nice! Perfect view of the beach which is just metres away. I cannot fault it at all. Had to have the windows open that night as it was very mild so there was lots of traffic to be expected on a main sea front road in the summer. Woke up went down to more brilliant service with our breakfast. Great selection of drinks, tea, coffee, orange juice, apple juice, cranberry, tropical, and tomato juice. Lots of choice for breakfast including, full English (which was delicious) yogurt or croissant or cereals. Really impressed with the service throughout our whole stay. Will definitely recommend and will definitely return. You pay £1 for parking for the overnight out on the sea front. It can get quite busy but we were lucky to get close by but it's such a lovely walk that we didn't mind. Thanks again for the lovely hospitality from all the staff there. Very impressed :) great value for money.

I had a single room at the back of the hotel. This had the normal features and free Wi Fi.
The breakfast was cooked to order and included in the price of the room. The Hotel is located right on the sea front and to the east of the pier.
