I've had a enjoyable 4 night mid-week break here as an independent traveller, having found it an affordable way to have a holiday in Llandudno. When weighing up your opinion on this hotel please make allowances for it's history i.e it's 2, possibly 3, Victorian seafront hotels merged into 1 at some point in the past. This has created an unusual internal layout of many staircases and corridors, with some bedrooms located in unexpected places. This all adds to the character of the hotel, although I'm glad I didn't get a room accessed under a staircase, halfway up a staircase or opposite toilets! There is also only 1 lift for a maximum of 2 people to service the entire hotel. Public areas and lounges are generally well decorated and furnished to a modern yet sympathetic standard. The ballroom is to a particularly high standard, although allowing bingo to dominate the evening entertainment programme is a bad decision. Much better to have the entertainer on twice each evening, with his slots either side of the bingo. The restaurant and the friendly hardworking staff cope well with serving meals in 1 sitting. Please be aware that allocated tables for the duration of a stay require sharing in the vast majority of cases. If you've been on a cruise then you'll know how this works. The evening menu offers a good choice, but depending on the chef you may be forgiven for thinking rationing of boiled potatoes has been introduced. The decor and the tabes/chairs in the restaurant are long overdue a facelift. The windows are single glazed and easily steam up so new double glazed windows and air con would be a worthwhile investment. The majority of guests are with coach parties and they add to the character and lively atmosphere of the place. They're also happy to interact with independent travellers. I'd a side room with a bay window looking out to sea and it was a sun trap and being at the very end of a corridor suffered no noise from passing guests, just the telly from next door!
