We stayed at the College at the end of July for 2 nights - Thursday & Friday - and have just returned from a second visit, again Thursday and Friday - brilliant!
As RNLI supporters of many years the opportunity to stay at the College is too good to miss, for a number of reasons. Every £1 you spend there goes to the charity, and across the board it is excellent value for money. As an active College, if you can stay there during the week you will see the RNLI volunteers and staff going about their business in a very professional way. At the weekends it sort of becomes a first class hotel with a difference.
The attitude of all the staff is excellent, the care taken in the design and presentation of the college is a lesson to so many organisations. The rooms are a combination of college room/hotel room - but of excellent fit and quality, better than many leading brand hotels.
The uniqueness of staying within the RNLI environment extends across the board, be it seeing the volunteers going out in the boats at the quayside, hearing the various accents of the attendees in the bar/restaurant, taking the guided tour of the extensive facilities.
Food quality is excellent, from breakfast through to evening meals - we particularly love the Holes Bay afternoon tea - excellent quality and very keenly priced.
We try to eat in whenever we can, maximising the help to the RNLI but really we just enjoy the ambience. Sit up in the Slipway Bar with your afternoon tea or pint, watch the happenings in the quay alongside - the way to relax.
If you are already an RNLI supporter, and haven't stayed at the College then you really are missing a treat - give them a ring and see when you can go. For non-members - become a member for the very reasonable fee, and give yourself the opportunity to stay somewhere just a bit different and contribute to an extremely worthy cause.
Check out the RNLI website for views/videos of the college.
We'll book again, probably early next year and look forward to a guaranteed enjoyable few days away.

Thank you very much for your very kind review with tripadvisor. I'm not sure what I can really add in reply to your review, as you seem to have captured all that we are trying to achieve!

RNLI College is the home for crew and lifeguard training. We strive to provide a 'home from home' for the remarkable volunteers during their training to save lives at sea.

We are always delighted to hear that our supporters enjoy a flavour of the crew experience. As you point out, every £ spent at RNLI College helps save lives at sea. Thank you.

really happy with a pre-ferry stop here, big airy room and public areas. Restaurant very good although limited choice on our late arrival, nice bottle of wine though. excellent choice at breakfast. staff really friendly.
parking is through barrier in enclosed parking bays, feels really secure which is great with a boot load of stuff heading to France.
will go again and maybe do the gat value two night deal to explore the Jurassic coast.

Room Tip: ask for open harbour view as ours was slightly restricted

The bed and breakfast that is offered at the RNLI Lifeboat College in Poole is first rate!
I have never stayed in a nicer room anywhere and the price is amazing! What's even greater is that it's an excellent way to support the charity. The atmosphere is wonderful, nautical in theme and the staff is friendly and helpful as well. I lost some important papers on my way there and I was given the use of the computers to go on line and get back my train tickets, maps, etc. They went out of their way to help. They also offer a tour of the college and training facility, definately take the opportunity!
I'm looking forward to a return visit next summer!

Arrived in Poole and looked through trip advisor for accommodation - the fact that this is a college was initially off putting but due to the excellent reviews we checked it out. The reception staff were very polite and helpful and our room was lovely and clean with a glorious comfy bed. The view was outstanding. We sat on the balcony of the hotel bar during the evening and enjoyed the views over harbour and the sunset. There was a plentiful breakfast available the following morning. Great value for money. I will certainly return and highly recommend.

On arrival greeted by very friendly and helpful staff. Rooms were immaculate. Exactly as shown on web. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious. Evening meal although good value, choice was limited as food not available as advertised. On the whole, despite the evening meal choice being limited, I would highly recommend this hotel as superb value for money with staff that will go out of their way to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Also a good cause. Thankyou to all the staff that made this a very enjoyable experience.

Thank you very much for your kind review. we are delighted that you had such a good welcome. We like to feel that the RNLI College is home to lifeboat crew and lifeguards who give up their time to train in saving lives at sea.

Our Riggers restaurant offer a range of dishes including local, fresh food. This does mean that occassionly dishes will run out, or not be available. We try and substitute these dishes with other offers.

Staying at the RNLI College really helps support us in our purpose of saving lives at sea. We hope we can welcome you back in the near future.
