I had the opportunity to stay at the RNLI college in Poole and cannot fault it whatso ever. The food is outstanding, the rooms are spotless with awesome views over Holes Bay. The bar is fully stocked and the staff are all so friendly nothing is a problem. This is also the home of the RNLI training school so you are rubbing shoulders with real Lifeboatmen

Room Tip: All rooms overlook the bay. Largest rooms are numbered *11 and *20 on each floor

We stayed at the RNLI college in Pool for three nights, the staff most helpful and the accommodation was excellant, all rooms have a bay view.
Do not be put of by the fact that its a college, it is like a four star hotel.
We were offered free use of bikes and helmets and cycle route maps of Pool.
Excellant accommodation at very reasonable price.

I attended one of my closest friend's wedding with my husband and little girl. The building itself is amazing and so new looking! The staff were extremely nice and polite and always happy to guide us to where we needed to go.

All of the food served was fantastic. We had canapes, then a four course meal and a buffet in the evening. The waiters/bartenders were brilliant. Very polite and you didn't feel they were there, but knew they'd be there if you needed them.

The views were astounding, surrounded by sea. I felt like we were on a cruise ship.

If anyone wants to have there wedding reception here, I would strongly recommend it.

The happy couple were just that!!

Room Tip: We did not stay but I know the rooms are amazing - I'm guessing a seaview is a must!

We stayed at the college for 3 nights February 2012. The rooms are very well appointed - think Travel Lodge, but bigger and with better facilities - very large desk area with free wi-fi, computer points and comprehensive hot drinks provision. It isn't a luxury hotel, but there isn't a luxury price to pay. All rooms have a view of the harbour/marina area in front of the college and the restaurant and bar have large balconies to allow you to make the most of these views. Service was excellent, too, with cheerful, friendly staff keen to see that your stay was a happy one. The food was very good - especially the breakfast selection, with freshly cooked items regularly replenished right up to the end of service. There is a 10% discount on all food items for RNLI members. A 'Discovery Tour' of the College is included in the cost of B & B (£6.50 if not a resident) This tour included time in the College's simulator and watching training in the pool, which can produce 1.5 m waves and be blacked out to give rough, night-time conditions including powerful storm effects. We saw a self-righting lifeboat training session which was especially dramatic.

Room Tip: All rooms face the sea and none were noisy when we were there, but perhaps those at the seaward end of the College would have the very best views and laeast noise.

Hi One-N-Den
Thank you for taking the time to review RNLI College with tripadvisor. We appreciate your kind comments. The purpose built sea survival pool provides a crucial element of training, simulating storm force sea conditions - in the dark! Our volunteer crew, who put themselves at risk to save others at sea deserve the best training to keep them safe. Whilst the purpose of the College is to train crew and lifeguards, we encourage our supporters to stay when we have spare rooms, or make use of our facilities. Every £ spent at RNLI College helps support our volunteers to save lives at sea. Thank you.

Sadly the main a la carte menu has slipped regarding quality. We stayed several times there when the new menu was introduced. I previously wrote that the food was excellent and very good value. Now some way down the line, generaly the the whole place is busy and buzzy but the food has lost the edge that it had and of course prices have risen. Lovely place. Great breakfast. Very helpful staff. Please pay attention to the quality of your A la carte menu tho.
