We were going to be in the area to celebrate a family birthday and contacted the Tuns to book a dog friendly table. Unfortunately there were no large tables in the bar area available (where dogs are usually allowed), we were a table of 7 but was advised that as long as the other tables in the dining room didn't mind then we could bring our dog. However when we arrived and I went to check if we could bring him in, the gentleman was already organising our table in the bar area, earlier diners must have finished and they were pushing two tables together. I was very impressed that they had remembered we had our dog with us. The meals were very good we had roast lamb, beef and one pork. All were delicious, with very tasty potatoes and great vegetables. The yorkshire puddings were a tad hard and we could have done with a second jug of gravy, but I'm sure had we asked that would have been made available. Sadly as we had a 5 hour drive ahead of us, we didn't have time for dessert but hopefully we will return another time to sample those.

4 of us visited here just before Mother’s Day on a fairly busy Friday night. As soon as we arrived the excuses began about the till not working properly, even though our pre-booked table was ready and available. We then waited a while for menus to be brought over and drinks to be ordered. With one of us needing a gluten free option we explained this when ordering and the waitress was nothing but confused, even at such a simple request that was advertised on the pretty small menu. After consulting with the chef she then came back and we ordered chicken pasta, chicken supreme, fillet steak and chicken Kiev. About 5 minutes later the woman then came back asking what needed to be gluten again, when it quite obviously was the chicken pasta as explained. The food came in acceptable time and was brought out by a different waitress who also didn’t appear to know much about the menu as she forgot the steak included peppercorn sauce and a steak knife was also not provided. Upon inspection of the chicken pasta; it was apparent that very poor cuts of chicken had been used and they were almost a black colour with lots of skin present. Despite this, the pasta was still ate until the woman came over to ask how our meals were, all our 3 were excellent and of a very high standard, however we mentioned about the chicken and she was quick to agree and instantly retrieved the plate to take back to the chef. This was a little too hasty for our liking as there was only half ate whereas the rest of us were about done. Another cooked portion was offered but as we’d already finished we explained this was not acceptable and were disappointed about the situation. The manager then offered a free desert instead of another meal but this was also not an offer we wanted. He was extremely rude and did not try to solve the situation out in the correct manner. We suggested maybe the fruit cider for free but this was immediately rejected and said there was nothing more he was willing to do. All in all a ruined night that left a very sour taste in our mouths. We will not be recommending the place to anyone. The food was not cheap either. Needless to say no tip was left.

We called in at the last minute when we were passing and ate here. Was pleasantly surprised, the food was lovely, if a tad expensive for what I'd normally go for but that didn't put me off making a party booking/reservation. Would recommend.
