Room was very nice, clearly recently refurbished and all the essentials. Very good shower, good bed, all very clean and with some lovely touches. All staff were lovely, very friendly and quick to serve. Ate in the restaurant, best chips in long time! Excellent breakfast, cooked to order. Great parking on site. Swipe card entry to get to stairs that lead to bedrooms, I appreciate that extra level of security and its not something you see in smaller hotels. I'd stay again.

Yeah checked yesterday 17th feb luckly for one night.
I am in the bar now having breakfast which they called full english
You get one item only drinks is available tea and Juice.

Me and myhusband we did not see their information about Loud Music all night till 03:00am may be this was our MISTAKE but ideal they should display this information
Clearly for Saturday and Sunday is a night club.
We were given first room 107 which was stink of painting and no air inside we couldnt even breath properly we tried to open the windows but is an old window fashionnwhich you cant open at all,
So my husband went to ask for another room which was better with fresh air 101
We did not sleep till 03:30am Loud musics in our ears was a nightmare
Nice tea from East Africa was lovely.

Room Tip: 107 better airy room

Stayed at the Royal as it is opposite the Town Hall where we were going to Sister Act, the Musical.

The Royal is a late night venue with music until 3am BUT the hotel is up front about it from the moment of booking up to and including paying for the room so no-one could be upset by it.

The rooms have recently refurbished and are clean and comfortable. The bar facilities and the breakfast were excellent. The stars however were the staff. Everyone we spoke to was friendly and good at their job. It was an excellent stay and we would stay there again. Very enjoyable!

I’ve just returned following a disappointing stay at “The Royal”. I opted for the “superior room”, however I am unsure what was remotely superior about it. The room was spacious, but was very dark and dingey. The bathroom was small and grubby. There was mold between the tiles and scum around the toilet and taps. The worst part; The hotel is situated on an extremely busy road, and the old windows do very little to silence the sound of the heavy traffic, which was constant through the night and particularly bad around 6am. There was also no way of cooling the room. No air conditioning, no ceiling fans and no opening windows, which meant the room was very stuffy with no fresh air. These factors led to an atrocious nights sleep. Breakfast was ok for £5! There were a choice of cereals and a cooked breakfast that was served quickly.
