Absolutely amazing hotel and staff, couldn't do enough for us, room mind blowing and luxe beyond the norm. Food amazing and good wine list. Staff really go the extra mile and an absolute delight, I'm not the usual type of guest being heavily tattooed and pierced and bald but staff were so friendly I didnt feel awkward at all. A big thanks to this super friendly and delightful hotel xx

We have stayed a number of times at this hotel and it gets better every time. There seems to have been a number of changes with management since our last stay which has improved the hotel and our stay. We stayed DBB for 3 nights and on arrival were upgraded. The room was fabulous and so were the staff. Kevin the manager was friendly and very helpful, all the staff were great and the food was to die for. We never seemed to be able to manage dessert , we did however manage the cheese board a couple of hours later on one night due to arrangements by Kevin . We were celebrating a birthday and fathers day and this hotel and its staff made both occasions special .the special touches make all the difference .The grounds are lovely to walk in and the hotel itself is only ten mins from Scarbourgh. We will booking again sooner rather than later this time . Thankyou again to Kevin and staff.

Stayed overnight for dinner bed and breakfast. Dinner was well presented and delicious. Good choice of wines. The conservatory and bar are relaxing areas. The garden is lovely with open views. The staff are friendly. The room was well decorated and had everything one needs. Overall a very relaxing comfortable stay in a lovely old building but with mod cons.

Room Tip: The standard is perfectly adequate but a little small.

Magnificent cuisine in a beautiful ambiance just three miles outside Scarborough on the edge of the North York Moors National Park a perfect choice for a birthday meal. The lovely conservatory was the ultimate relaxing location for pre-dinner cocktails overlooking manicured lawns and the staff are very welcoming. The food at the 1881 restaurant was perfect - the deconstructed beef Wellington was wonderful - and the scrumptious swordfish is also highly recommended. We’d definitely go back and may book in for a night as a very special treat!

Stayed here two days ago as we were going to see Lionel Richie at the Open Air Theatre. It said the hotel was 2 miles away and we were planning to walk there from the hotel, but driving from the Centre of Scarborough, we decided it was an extremely long walk (we are walkers so 2 miles is nothing to us) so had to get a taxi there and back which was an added cost. Strangely going there the driver charged us £9 and on the way back £7.60? (rather expensive for 2 miles we thought). On arrival at the hotel, we received a lovely friendly reception, the young man who welcomed us said he would book us a taxi and carried my bag to our room which was quite a trek to be honest. The room was lovely and full of character, I particularly liked the bath in the room and the extra large bed. Although the staff were very friendly I felt some of the guests were a little, dare I say snooty, and obviously regulars there. The breakfast menu was varied and we opted for the full English which was lovely. We had to ask for glasses and teaspoons as these had been left off our table. Not a problem and I am probably being a little nit picky. Although the staff were very efficient we weren't asked if we would like anything else (sauces etc) or even if everything was OK which was surprising. One last thing, outside, and the grounds are really beautiful, there was an advertising sign which had fallen down besides a pile of rubble which needed moving and outside our room a table was overturned which remained like that throughout our stay. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this place, however for us, it was a little far out for our needs and I would probably book somewhere a little more central next time.
