We had a really enjoyable 2 nights stay. We had executive rooms, they were spacious, clean and really cosy and comfortable.
The staff were all welcoming and really hard working.
Leo in the restaurant was especially welcoming,
The pool area was very nice.
Would recommend this hotel to friends and family.

I had long wanted to visit Donnington because of its great spa facilities so decided to come here during a week long minimoon in the South West. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed. Although the room itself was lovely, especially with the little patio area and they offered complimentary hotel parking, I'm afraid the positives end there.
I had informed them in advance that we would be visiting for our minimoon and did the same at other hotels we stayed at on our trip. The other hotels made our stays super special, offering upgrades, champagne, cards, chocolates, rose petals, etc. Donnington did not even offer a congratulations. There was nothing special about our stay and as such would not recommend it for a special occasion or a spa stay as the jacuzzi is currently broken. Also, as they are not pre-booking pool slots, it tends to get very crowded, especially on rainy days.
The restaurant was the apex of the negatives- the waiter did not know what the initials next to items on the menu meant so lucky we had no allergies, the lentils taste odd with the lamb, the beef was far too chewy and I had to request a dirty glass to be exchanged.
The Guest Relations Manager was courteous enough to call me after I logged my experience but, it will not be able to change the fact that we had a stay that meant that this hotel rated bottom on our list of 6 minimoon hotels.

Nice hotel, superior rooms very comfortable, large, ground floor terrace really lovely.
Excellent bathrooms and ample hot water.
Shame about the carpets, needed a good clean.
The food in the restaurant was disappointing. Not worth paying extra for.
Most disappointing was the COVID measures, (even though U.K. was downgraded)
No room servicing! No breakfast in the restaurant.
Very poor customer service, evident that the Covid measures are purely for economic reasons.

We’ve been visiting Donnington Valley hotel at least twice a year for the last 20 years or so (last year was an exception due to Covid) and we’ve always had a great experience.

We wanted a short break, now that we can get out more, and decided to book an overnight stay. Having read some of the awful reviews on here, I must say we were worried. But there was no need. The staff were polite and welcoming, the hotel looks clean, new carpets, cleaned carpets in the rooms, and everything how we remembered. The jacuzzi wasn’t working in the spa, but apart from that it was as nice in there as ever. Staff were on hand to help, and we had no wait at all for our refreshments.

Our room was spotless, no complaints at all. We had dinner in the evening, which we were told would be outside in the Hangout. But because the weather wasn’t great, everyone was seated inside. Food, service, ambience was fantastic.

Breakfast is currently being delivered to your room in the morning at a convenient time and again, I really don’t know what people are moaning about. We had a hot bacon bap, with museli, yoghurt, milk, orange juice, blueberry muffin, fresh fruit. It tasted delicious and looked lovely. There was more than enough for us, and what we didn’t eat, we took back home. We actually enjoyed eating in our room, watching the Olympics on the telly, with a great view of the golf course out the patio doors.

So please don’t take some of the negative reviews on here too seriously if you’re going soon. I just wonder what some people expect to be honest. We had a great short break, couldn’t fault it, and will go back in a heartbeat!!
