Stayed 1 night for business. Rooms are nice and clean. True 4 star facilities from a local Hotel; unlike other hotels who claim 4 star but have no ironing board, or no late check-in, etc... Would recommend and stay again.

I recently stayed here in a party of 6, as we were visiting Highclere Castle. It is only a 15 minute drive from here. A few months ago, a member of my party informed the hotel that her elderly Mother finds it difficult to walk so they would require a ground floor room. Sadly when they arrived, nobody could recall the booking. However, they were given two single rooms which were on the ground floor. The elderly member of our party had difficulty in opening her room door, found it difficult to sleep due to the traffic on the main road, and was very grateful for the heater in the room as she found it extremely cold. Upon arrival my sister and I found our twin room also very cold, however the Manager was very accommodating and informed us that the radiators were on a timer and kindly turned them on for us. We were also grateful for the heater in our room as it did get cold at night. The bathrooom was very small and a bath tub would have been a great addition, however you certainly had everything you needed for a brief stay. The room was very clean and modern with a TV and kettle. More lighting would have been great, but we really appreciated plenty of power sockets which were available in the room. I did not have any bath towels, however again a lady who worked at the hotel was very accommodating and gave them to me as soon as I asked for some. The wifi was a bit slow sadly. I found the best part of the stay the breakfast! It was cooked to order, and we also ate at the restaurant 'The Barn' twice, and again the food was excellent. We did find the food a bit expensive, however it was certainly quality. All the staff we encountered were very polite and did as much as they could to ensure our stay was comfortable. I certainly recommend staying here if you wish to visit Highclere Castle, as well as eating at The Barn if you are looking for a delicious meal.
We stopped at the Hare & Hounds coming from London to Cornwall, very nice to stop on the way. Kind atmosphere and good service. We had to eat in the pub area as we had a small dog, but equally nice. The food was very tasty, we had pork, lamb and steak, all very good.
We also stayed in the hotel. Was good for the price.
Breakfast could be a bit better.
Booked at short notice . Staff very helpful. Room adequate very clean . Plenty of breakfast available. Would stay again. We didn't use the restaurant as arranged to eat with family athough looked very appetising will try next time.
Back again with the family, 7 of us in all, for lunch at the Hare and Hounds after a break of about eighteen months. Once again the service was highly professional and responsive, the menu extensive and innovative, the food delicious, the beer tremendous and the overall value astonishing. Well worth the journey in every way!
My daughter and stopped her with her two bridesmaids on the way to a spa weekend at Chamneys and were delighted with the impromptu choice, The Barn restaurant is beautiful, bright and friendly and the menu very impressive, service is excellent, very professional and the food was outstanding. What a delight to set us on our way to and excellent weekend of celebrating.
I always said we were a good warm up for Champneys!!
Seriously though, what a lovely compliment for our humble inn! We are so lucky to have The Barn and it is so popular locally and for those en route further afield.
Thanks for taking the time to let us know you enjoyed our hospitality and I hope the weekend went well and the Wedding will be equally memorable
