When I retired from work, colleagues gave me a voucher for a one-night stay at the Crown and Victoria. We expanded this into a three-night Fri - Sun long weekend. Mark and all his staff could not have been more helpful, adding to the voucher without fuss. Bedroom very clean and comfortable; pub in an attractive setting and very easy to find.
We had dinner on one night, served at just the right speed and delicious. Our whole experience was a pleasure and very good value. Highly recommended.

My husband and I booked with a voucher 2 months in advance - we have many weekends booked and booked in advance so we didnt forget to to
Booked for a Saturday evening on a cold February evening. Plenty of parking in the car park
We arrived early and had a drink at the bar - constant flow of punters coming in and seated immediately - we ordered at the bar and stayed at the bar until our food was being served
Opted for fish cakes and deep fried mozzarella - both well presented and very good
Mains were smoked cod fillet and stuffed chicken breast - loved the spring onion mash
Both courses again very good and well presented. Nice gap between courses
Enjoyed a coffee after the meal
We do eat out most weeks and have to say that this was one of the best meals we have enjoyed for some time - will definitely visit again

We received a voucher from family for a meal here and were looking forward to it as the place had many good reviews. I can only imagine that we were in a different pub it was so bad. We were told our table was up the other end of pub and had to find it ourselves! The table was in an area that was clearly being used as a storage area and well away from the main pub area. The kitchen door was nearby and was propped open so we could smell a myriad of odours while we waited. We ordered starters and waited 45 mins for them but worse was to come. The main meals arrived, well 3 did but I was told there had been a mix up and my burger would be 5 mins. Not ideal! When the burger did arrive, I wished it hadn't. It was awful, pink in the middle, the cheese hadn't melted and the salad had seen better days. We also asked the waitress for more drinks and she told us she was too busy with food orders and someone would come up. Needless to say, they didn't and we had to go to the bar ourselves. We did complain and there was no charge for the meals which was good but our family who purchased the voucher certainly didn't get value for money and would be so disappointed to know how awful the whole experience was for us. Will never go back here!!

We are sorry that you were not happy with your visit to our pub. This is very unusual as you can see from the other reviews we receive. On Saturday night the pub was very busy and all dining areas in the pub were being used. Your table was in an area that is part of the main pub and other diners were there too. Our rule is that when that area of the pub is being used the kitchen door should be closed but obviously on that night the staff failed to do this and this will be followed up. We accept that we made an error in that one meal was omitted. We tried to rectify this but obviously not to your satisfaction. Our understanding was that two of the party were using a voucher to cover a two course meal for two and the other two members of the party were ordering from the menu and paying as normal. We were aware that you were dissatisfied and even though the rest of the party had no complaints about their food at the end of the evening we returned your voucher, we did not charge you for any of the food, nor did we charge you for any of your drinks. Whilst we accept your experience was not good we feel your review does not reflect the full picture.
