Premier Inn Yeovil Town Centre Hotel
Ranked #2 of 13 Hotels in Yeovil
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 20 September 2017

The hotel is of recent construction and the Beefeater restaurant is part of the same development, semidetached so to speak. The hotel is sited, only a very short uphill walk, from the town centre where you'll find all the normal hight street stores. There is a variety of restaurants on the walk into town and cross the road from the hotel. All tastes seem to be catered for. The hotel rooms are typical 'Premier Inn' with very comfortable beds, adequate free wifi and an over the bath shower. The windows don't open so it is good to have the air-conditioning. Though the hotel is adjacent to a main road the rooms are quiet. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. There is a lift/elevator to the upstairs rooms. The only down side for the hotel is the absence of free parking. However there is a local town carpark less than 200 yards/metres away. Parking is £4.00 per day [08.00 - 18.00] and free on Sunday. For town centre parking this is very good.

Room Tip: Odd numbered rooms on floor2 face away from the road.

We stayed here overnight mid-week. When I made the booking I hadn't read about the parking issue. The staff clearly know this is an issue for customers. We were given a wry smile on arrival around 4.30pm and an explanation of how to park nearby in Stars Lane car park. However, I am not sure the information about tradesmen being nervous in case their vans are broken into was very helpful or appropriate. This matter of parking has now been well reported by previous reviewers and although not an ideal situation with paid parking nearby and only a short walk away, it is possible to resolve the situation. We paid to park until 6pm at which time parking becomes free until 8am the following morning. My partner awoke early so that he could pay for a further two hours, allowing us to have breakfast before leaving for our next destination.
We stayed in room 103 on the first floor. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet with nothing but a gravelled roof to be seen. We ate out that night at a nearby restaurant returning for a nightcap in the bar. We had breakfast the following morning in the Beefeater attached. It was freshly cooked to order and the buffet was well stocked with all the usual pastries, fruit, yoghurts, drinks etc. We did not experience any teething problems at this new and modern Premier Inn. The only concern is the parking. We just don't understand why there was no prior agreement with the council to buy the adjacent plot of land to provide parking space. Aside from that the hotel would have been rated 'Very good'.

Room Tip: Rooms on the first floor facing inwards may be quieter

Woken up by noise from next room and footsteps above, no feedback from staff after complaining. Breakfast not hot. Not usual standard for Premier Inn. Especially as this is a new hotel. However when we did get to sleep we slept well
