When we arrived the girl behind the bar was all set to charge us £9 more per night than what we were told when booking. Luckily I had a copy of the e mail to prove the price. We were not given the room we had been allocated, but we didn't bother making a fuss about that. The room we got was clean but needs a lot of work done to modernise it. This is the first hotel we have ever stayed in that there was no cereal or fruit on offer at breakfast time. The cooked breakfast was alright, but everything needs to be smartened up a lot if they want to have a better image. The staff definitly have to smarten themselves up quite a lot. If they don't know how, I suggest they go along the street to the Rose and Crown and get a few tips from them. If we had known there was such a nice hotel so near, we would not have booked the Cross Keys.
