Forget Frankie's that won best in Britain: I've eaten at both and fish and chips here are better. It's not not as plush as Frankie's, in fact nothing more than a shack - and room is limited so either get there early or be prepared to wait for a table. Beautifully cooked food, superb crispy batter on the fish, very friendly and efficient service and good value for money.

Maybe the best fish and chips I have ever eaten. Small dining area. Cash only. We had the small portion fish and chips and it was plenty.

Great little fish and chips shop and cafe.
They do seem to be able to do very good fish and chips in this part of the world, but this is even better than the shop not so far away that won best in Britain in 2016.
To be fair though, we sat down in that one, but actually ate these straight from the paper on the harbour front at Lerwick, engaging in a life or death struggle with a seagull who had decided to try and muscle in on our supper! That's the way fish and chips should be eaten!

We recently had lunch at this tiny café, close to the cruise ship dock. it was recommended to us by our taxi driver/tour guide. It is a tiny place, half of it is for take out and a tiny café attached. It was crowded, full of locals, but found a table for my wife and I, the other couple that was with us had to sit in a separate table. We had great F&C. The fish was fresh haddock with a crispy batter and cooked at the moment. It was delicious. A great experience, and very good value.

We had lunch at the Fort Cafe. It is a very down-home kind of place with a large take-out business and a small dining area. It's very no-frills. We had the small portion of fish and chips which was pretty huge. The fish was very moist and the top batter was crisp, the bottom less so. The fries needed salt which was supplied at the table along with malt vinegar. We also had a nice mug of tea, the best tea that I've had in my two weeks of travel. A good and economical lunch.
