Description: The Estate Grill is our contemporary restaurant, which is a reflection of our commitment to providing locally sourced, simple dishes. Executive Chef, Marc Hardiman, has a straightforward and honest approach to food and enjoys experiencing new dining concepts, both in Europe and the UK. With this in mind, along with the current trend for dining to become more relaxed and casual, he has created an innovative menu of smaller plates, allowing guests to order a variety of dishes brought to the table to eat informally, in an almost "grazing" style. Choose as few or as many as you like and they'll be served by both restaurant staff and even one of our chefs. The menu still offers more classic dishes too, mainly cooked on our Josper grill, so if you fancy a traditional main course then the choice is yours! The aim is to offer our diners a more flexible approach to eating out whilst still using the finest ingredients, many of which are grown on our estate and freshly picked each day. Our extensive kitchen garden and glasshouse supply us with a variety of seasonal herbs, fruits, salad leaves and vegetables.

I had the pleasure of visiting Great Fosters last Sunday for a family celebration lunch. It had taken me quite a while to settle on the venue but I’m so glad I did, helped along with very positive TripAdviser reviews. There were 10 of us and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves, all remarking on such a lovely venue, attentive staff and delicious food. We had a large table in the centre of the Estate Grill restaurant and had a wonderful time.

Most of us had 3 courses, including starters of dressed crab, soup and cheese soufflés; roast beef (with amazing Yorkshire pudding), fillet steak and chateaubriand; desserts of poached pear, vanilla cream with berry sorbet and chocolate praline; along with champagne and wines. We thoroughly enjoyed it all.

We had brought a cake with us too which the staff had cut up for us, even providing cake boxes for people to take home, seeing as most of us were rather full by then! Staff were very attentive and friendly without being too obtrusive. Daniel, the Maître d’, was great and joined in the banter when called upon!

The restaurant looks like it has been tastefully refurbished and we had a friendly welcome on arrival. It has a lovely ambience, special without being too formal. Perfect for the occasion.

Unfortunately, we ran out of time to have a look around the grounds on this occasion but we will definitely be back in the summer for afternoon tea and will have a walk round then as they look beautiful.

A very memorable day for all the right reasons.

Thank you to all the Great Fosters team for such a fabulous time. Just like Arnie, "we'll be back"!

The service was very good but the food not so
The choice for the fixed menu was very limited and very sparse
And we were charged for a so called basket of bread which
Consisted of 3 pieces of bread at £4.50 !
Not very impressed !

Thank you for your review. I am sorry that you were disappointed with the choice available on our seasonal lunch menu.

Whilst our seasonal menu includes a choice of three starters, three main courses and two desserts & cheese, we also offer a full a la carte menu as well. The extra sides dishes are clearly priced on the menu and all our basket of bread consists of three very generous pieces of different homemade bread that are made each morning and served with olive oil and balsamic

My wife and I had been treated to a voucher by a dear friend, to a 3 course Season Menu in the Estate Grill at Great Fosters. This is a venue we know well and as ever, we were delighted with the excellent service, superb food and lovely surroundings. Perfect in every way.

I stayed in the hotel on business and chose to eat in the Estate Grill at Great Fosters. The food was very nice and the service was good. The staff were considerate to my food allergy and were able to advise me on what dishes I needed to avoid. It was obvious that they had carefully checked ingredients so that I was able to eat and enjoy a fabulous meal without fear of becoming ill.
