Visit 5 Nov. 2017
A very pleasant atmospheric hotel with exposed beams and soft lighting - which is actually in the Main Road of the pretty village of Ombersley, being 3 miles from Droitwich. The name is pronounced Sands - the "y" is silent - previously being part of the estate of the Sandys family - that still own and live at Ombersley Court. It was a former Lord Sandys of Ombersley who brought over the recipe for Worcester Sauce and gave it to Lee and Perrins!
Anyway, spacious free parking, good range of real ale beers and food. Sunday roast was £11.00 with good sized beef portion, tender meat and good range of excellent fresh veg. Particularly lightly cooked cabbage and mange tout - crisp - fab.
Very handy for a walk by the timber framed black and white buildings, the fine early Victorian church - St. Andrews and a chance to visit the excellent local family butchers and deli (Checketts Fine Foods of Ombersley). Nearby River Severn is about two miles away at Holt Fleet with bridge, lock and weir to see. Enjoy!More
