Love this place. Truly gourmet food in an English pub full of character with friendly and attentive staff. Stone walled and stylish with numerous rooms it has a great cosy atmosphere and two out door areas. The view from the front terrace overlooks lovely countryside. Cannot recommend this pub enough. Lovely visit. Thank you.

We stayed here on the weekend as we had been to a wedding nearby - I wish we could have stayed longer! The view from the rooms is beautiful, overlooking the South Hams. Rooms are tastefully decorated (although ours was missing a coffee machine, which was a fly in the ointment and the reason for 4, rather than 5 stars). The breakfasts are delicious and more than the usual fare: I had whipped avocado and poached egg on sourdough toast and it was yummers! The owner is friendly, knowledgeable and very proud of the business, as he well deserves to be. The dinner menus look great and we will definitely be back again to sample them. Highly recommended - a lovely place ... just please don’t leave me without access to coffee in the early mornings!!

On Friday we went to dinner en-famillie to the live n let live. What a brilliant experience. Wonderful food, cool decor, attentive staff, good beer and wine selection. Unquestionably now the place to beat for good food in any restaurant let alone pubs. It’s our local and for years we have been embarrassed to take anyone there. Now it is top notch and a destination - booking already a challenge after only 7 weeks open. Go now while you don’t have to wait for a table for weeks.

Our second visit and this time for the clever and seriously imaginative Zero Waste Menu. The LALL offers all the wants and needs for a country pub but where it exceeds is its offering off on point food with a round the kitchen table feel. Service is efficient but gentle. So to the ZW ... beef ragu croqueta, pan fried hake with romanescu, home smoked salmon rillettes and beef brisket with smoked garlic mash. £10 for 2 courses. Ridiculous. As other reviewers have said, I’m torn between waxing lyrical and keeping it secret. But the team deserve all the plaudits they get.
