Wanted dinner after a day out exploring some of the quaint villages of the New Forest. On our way back to our hotel in Burley we found The Snakecatcher. seemed friendly, we got a table even though it was very busy. I ordered fish finger burger and my husband the swordfish. My food was good but it could have been better if they used just 2 big juicy flaky fish fingers instead of 4/5 skinny fish goujons which were dry. My husband said his swordfish was very tasty. With our drinks the bill came to under £35 which for a mid week dinner was good. We would return if in the area again.

Driving through the New Forest area we stopped at The Snakecatcher for a quick pint and a packet of crisps. A lovely warm welcome from the barman. He allowed us to try a sample of different beer to choose what we would like from the local brewery.

I'd have put an excellent, except for the fact that it was one of the coldest days in March and the pub was cold. The log fire wasn't lit and the radiators not on. Had it been a bit warmer, we would probably have lingered for longer.

But we will definitely visit on a warmer day for sure.

First visit and we liked the rustic ambience. Pub very quiet and we thought when more people the atmosphere would be good. My wife had a burger which was excellent but with the chips was too much for her. I ordered a surf and turf which was served on a hot stone. It was very good. The staff were pleasant and overall a good find and we will be back.

We booked this pub for a place for 9 of us to meet up on a recent family weekend away and we were so pleased with our choice. The service and food were excellent and we will certainly visit again.
