The campsite is a fairly large field with only 15 pitches, hence the pitches are very generous indeed. The whole field is grass (no hard standings) which was perfect for us as we use a tent.

The ground was fairly level and good quality soft ground (great for pegging out the tent). The majority of the pitches have electric hookup and water points. There is an area for waste (rubbish, recycling and chemical toilet) in the main field and next to the camping field is a very large dog walking field. The toilet/shower/kitchen block is also located just inside the entrance to the dog walking field. To be honest, the facilities are nowhere near as good as most of the other campsites that we have visited. For example, there is only one kitchen sink for washing dishes (which wasn't a problem as the site was quiet when we were there), there is only one shower (which again wasn't a problem during our stay), and the toilet block is 3 unisex cubicles.

The toilet/shower area were kept nice and clean by Vicki - apart from the spider webs and spiders. Not a problem for some but arachnophobes might not be too keen.

The dog walking field is huge (my garmin measured the walk around the perimeter at about 0.4 miles) and was generally very clean (although you do get the usual problem of the very occasional owner who doesn't bother to clean up).

The site is fairly remote and the roads around it can be quite narrow - but are also typically very quiet. The pub in the village is closed at the moment (July 2016) and probably will be through the rest of this season while it is being refurbished. The shop in the village is fairly well stocked although a little over-priced. There fish & chip shop in the village is lovely (again a bit over-priced) but everything is cooked fresh. The portion size for a regular chips is tiny! They also have some very nice looking specials on each day that are not your usual fish & chip shop food.

The owner (Vicki) is absolutely lovely and always had time for a chat when you bumped into her. She is not always around but her mobile number is always available for you to contact her should you need to.

I would not hesitate to return here again at some point in the future. A great site, especially if you have dogs - dogs far outnumbered humans during our stay (and honestly, noise was never an issue).

Room Tip: Pitch 1 was the biggest (but there are all generous). Pitch 1 and 15 were closest to the facilities.

I almost didn't do a review because I selfishly don't want to share this place vicki the owner is the friendliest person who despite being very busy always has time for a chat.
It is the most dog friendly campsite you could ever hope to find.
It has basic but adequate and clean facilities and is located half way between Bideford and Bude
We stayed for 9 nights during the recent monsoon like weather and still had a great time

This site is perfect for a quiet family holiday to recharge batteries and to relax. Don't come expecting club houses, large shower blocks and kids clubs. This site provides basic needs. There is one shower and three toilets housed in a cabin. They are clean and quite adequate for the size of the site. It's a very relaxed site, no lists of "dos and donts" like some. This site is an absolute must if you have a dog. There are a couple of fields to exercise them and they have day kennels on site where you can leave them for the day if you are going to one of the family amusement parks nearby. If you fancy having a go at agility or some coaching, this can be arranged. Most of the beaches in the area are dog friendly - This is an absolute gem of a site and we are going to make this one of our regular family holidays.

This is my little bolt hole in the country, the facilities are basic but clean, the dog walk is great and the moment we arrive my lot can't wait to go and check out their walkie place before we can do any setting up, 'perfect for us' as it is only a few metres from the camping field.
The pitch sizes are much bigger than any we have been offered anywhere else with plenty of room for garden to keep dogs safe and secure so no stress when you open the door and they can just pop in and out as they please, afterall they are on holiday as well.
The owner is really friendly and has helped us out on more than one occasion when we have had problem with anything.
Excellent fish and chips in the village and a well stocked shop for essentials, sadly the pub is closed but hopefully will be up and running before to long, it is approx 20 minutes to walk it and just 5 minutes in the car.
It may not be luxury but is definitely value for money and worth every penny just for the view.

Beautiful setting, very friendly owners, lots of info about local area, places to visit etc. Cheap and cheerful, which is just what I want when I go camping - the essentials are there and we were up, showered and off every morning for a day of exploring. Got to watch the farmers making hay while the sun (tried) to shine; my son loved it and everyone was very friendly and helpful. Would definitely visit again.
