First time in the area. Chose to eat here as it said home cooked food when looking on website. Service was good. We were advised that a couple of parties were before us so not to expect food there and then. However, we ordered drinks and a starter. Tomato and basil soup, with handsome flavour that went down well. Hubby ordered the Thai green curry for main and I had the medium fish and chips. Definitely home made. The chips were like what granny used to make ..the fish plenty big enough and not thick uncooked batter like some you get. The curry was immense..there was enough to feed three and apparently was divine. The rest of the curry went home in a tub. Couldn't have asked for better service. The chef came out for a bit of banter which was nice. I definitely recommend and will come back if in the area again. Thanks for a nice evening guys !!

Came here after seeing it was rated so highly on TripAdvisor and were a little disappointed. The staff were friendly, the food was mixed.
Good scampi and chips, but both the starters and mains were served with a handful of limp rocket. The seafood salad option had pickled seafood rather than fresh which wasn't made clear on the menu.

A good traditional English pub with a highly recommended restaurant - didn't disappoint. I had a ribeye steak, cooked to perfection and good value for £'s too. Attentive staff, cheery and helpful staff. Chef even came out for a blether with us.
If I'm in the area again - I'll be back.

Great little place for some hearty food and a fantastic pint. Ask the landlord for a recommendation and you'll not be disappointed.

Had a steak burger deal off groupon for £9 per person which was meant to include a starter. This didn't materialise. Burgers were overcooked and dry, no flair or real care in the cooking, no relish, sauce, gherkins etc which would have transformed them into something special. However nice old fashioned pub in a quaint country village and good local beer.
