There is confusion in the reviews, as this business has two outlets appearing on the same tripadvisor site - this review is of the Duke Street cafe. I didn't really want to write a review, as it might encourage more people to visit, and I wanted to keep it all to myself! It really is a gem of a place, hidden away at the top of a previous department store building, reached by lift at the back of a cavernous cornucopia of a shop that sells - well, it's hard to describe. See for yourselves - a treasure-house of bric a brac for the discerning browser. But back to the café - it's a stunning airy room beneath the original roof rafters. Superb menu - forget your usual egg and chips, this is great! Salads, bagels, and an egg-lover's delight! So far I've sampled scrambled-eggs-to-die-for with bacon, and eggs benedict to-die-for, and am looking forward to working my way through the entire list. Nice smiley service, and the place is a touch above the usual burger, prams and rowdy kids brigade. I wish we'd found this place ages ago, and now that we have, I want to keep it all to myself.

This place is hidden away, halfway up a steep flight of steps between upper and lower Douglas. At first glance, it seems to be a take-away café for office workers, but if you go in and through and up the stairs, you find yourself in an airy functional room overlooking a fairly drab part of town. I had a chicken omelette for breakfast, with baked beans, and it was delicious - though the meat content would have been more manageable had it been cut into smaller pieces. Service was pleasant and efficient. Very enjoyable.

5 of us tasted their very varied menu. A salad, a club sandwich, a "Buddha salad", Lamb Casserole and a wrap. All the food looked great and everyone was happy with their choice. Would definitely eat here again...about 30 times to ensure I try each of their offerings. A great find.

Nice little lunch cafe. The service is quick and pleasant, food is delicious ad plentiful. Nothing fancy, but a decent hearty meal that's good value for money and will keep you full til supper.
