After a long trip from Italy and a never-ending drive from Auckland, we arrived to this incredible lodge, which really excedeed our expectations.
The location itself is incredible...sea, beaches and immaculate land all around: so unspoilt you could believe to be the only one left on earth.
We were greeted by the most polite staff ever and shown our room (deluxe suite); a lovely cottage facing either the sea and the golf course. The cottage itself was extremely well appointed, with a nice fireplace, huge terrace and a beautiful bathroom.
The main building and its lovely dining rooms and sitting rooms with burning fireplaces add coziness and make you feel as a welcomed guest at a friends' home.
Breakfast and dinner were included in our rate and both were above excellence, although with limited choice of dishes. The wine list was however extensive.
The golf course was perfectly maintained and we played 18 holes with the greatest pleasure.
Nice SPA and very good body massages for both of us; very small indoor heated lap pool with jacuzzi, good fitness room. The path from the main lodge building to the Spa through the rich tropical forest is fabulous!
But what really makes the difference from other 5 stars hotels, is the attentiveness of the staff...always present but unobtrusive, always trying to anticipate your wishes. They made our stay really memorable.
We would definitely return and strongly recommend it.

The stunning location and scenery is complimented by the warm and caring service and reception of the staff. I was visiting for a short business stay, and sadly didn't get to enjoy all that was on offer, but it gave me enough taste to know I'd want to return. Everything from the setting, the food and service was first class.

From the time we were we're welcomed, till we were farewelled three days later, this was indeed a luxurious, relaxing and pampering mini break!
Spectacular views can be enjoyed from the Clubhouse, over the Golf Course and beyond.
And the meals were just out of this world!
Breakfasts could be enjoyed in the restaurant or delivered to our cottage and the chef was more than happy to oblige with special requests.
Dinners, with recommendations from the knowledgable and helpful staff, were Michelin standard - my favourite main was the local Hapuka and Paua with freshly cooked local vegetables and a tomato, caper and beurre blanc.
Our friendly host John entertained us with stories about the area and his piano playing was a highlight!!
The accomodation was superb - an individual cottage with large verandahs front and rear. A large entrance and spacious bathroom (separate vanities, huge bath and a shower), with a separate walk in room-robe. The kitchenette was more than adequate with special touches like freshly baked cookies.
The living area was decorated in a 'Hamptons-like' style with huge chairs and footstools, a writing desk, open fire and a large comfortable super king sized bed.
The staff were all exceptionally professional and friendly and went out of their way to make us feel like we were guests in their home.
Since our first visit, we're already planning another. Why would we spend money on international airfares, hours spent travelling to an overseas destination when we have this gem of a resort in our own back yard?
If you want to be totally pampered and not depart from NZ shores, then this is definitely the place to visit.
Thanks to everyone who made our visit so memorable.
