Very nice pub, kept in the old style, dark wood, etc and we loved the ceiling decorations of twigs and branches, some of which were illuminated. Very nice ambience, a cosy feel to it. We had spicy chicken curry with basmati rice and naan bread. We had to wait a while to be served but I know they were short-staffed because we previously turned up without booking and couldn't get a table. This time, however, I had pre-booked. The manageress, Emily, was very smiley and patient in spite of being so very busy. This is a popular pub!!

We had heard Good reports about The Royal Oak, but as we have a small dog we’d be restricted to eating in the Bar or outside which is fine. Yesterday after a nice walk to the Wiseman Bridge inn (also Very Good….) we’d been told it was Curry night at the Oak and that they had a Lobster Curry on along with a number of other Curries. We arrived just before 5pm and had a great welcome from the Staff & Nick behind the Bar (who I’d met earlier in the Day) but more importantly the Curries were wonderful- Thank You

Good pub atmosphere and friendly staff. We eat there twice, first on curry night which was very good. Therefore we returned the next night and I had a rather dry hamburger. Therefore only four stars, which is a pity as I really liked the place.

So good we went back twice , the food and service were amazing in this gorgeous pub /restaurant , such a warm friendly atmosphere and nothing was too much trouble ,great ambience inside and outside ,5 stars isn’t enough , we will definitely be back.

We were very lucky to get a table without pre booking. I had a grilled seabass with grains and my partner had whole sole. We are very fussy if comes to the fish and it is a first time we had a fish in UK which we absolutely loved. We recommend the place to anyone but be sure to call and reserve prior as there were many people turn down as place was fully booked already.
Great attentive staff too. Well done :)
