Very friendly staff, being happy and polite.

I ordered only a small portion of chips to take-away.
It was indeed a very small portion, of what tasted like reheated chips, or older fat being used, though I suspect the former as a few of the chips seemed quite fresh.

The vinegar seemed watered down, as it tasted extremely weak indeed. To me, this was poor value for money, I am only pleased I did not order a full meal to eat within the establishment.

The best haddock special ever. We visit quite often & travel from South Yorkshire just for lunch. Lovely food & lovely staff. Well worth a visit.

We had been on the steam train. We felt it was too early to eat before setting back from Whitby so ate when got back to Pickering. This restaurant is just round the corner from the station. Excellent fresh (Whitby) fish and chips and reasonably priced. Batter was nicely cooked but too much for us so when we come here again (having been on the steam train) we will ask for the medium special to be lightly battered

We had planned a fish & chip meal for our last night in Thornton Le Dale but were disappointed to find the restaurant was closed - how fortunate that was as we found this cafe in Pickering - it was near closing but we were welcomed by a friendly and efficient waiter. The food was freshly cooked, delicious and not too expensive. Well worth a visit!

Sopped off at Capplemans at about 5pm on a Saturday on the way to a concert at Dalby Forest after finding it on TripAdvisor and very glad we did. Four of us were seated quickly by a very friendly and efficient waitress and all had the 'special' fish and chips; 3 x medium 1 x large (me!) Haddock, chips, mushy peas tartar sauce bread and butter and tea - all for around £12/£14. Oh, and the ladies had a bottle of quite nice prosecco to wash it down (The guys had Wold Top beer). All arrived very quickly and it was the best eat-in fish and chips I've had for a long time. Finished off with a cup of tea - not sure there is a better way to eat!
