Lorenz is a "straussi", the German equivalent of the French "ferme auberge" but with more of a pub element. Set in a small village, it was clearly once a group of farm buildings and has retained its character. You can sit inside the atmospheric interior (a bit crowded sometimes at weekends) or at trestle tables outside in an open barn structure. But wherever you choose to park yourself, the food is delicious and typical of this kind of establishment. We were there in the asparagus season and enjoyed a plentiful helping of it, washed down with the local beer. Service is friendly and informal. Afterwards, walk to nearby Staufen through the asparagus fields to work off your hearty lunch!
