Description: Our little slice of ‘Southern Style’ heaven on the North Wales coast. Set in the beautiful seaside town of Rhos-On-Sea. Fanatical about flames; silly about smokers and utterly obsessed with the smells, tastes and traditions of the Deep South. Our smokin' hot menu is available all day every day, from smokehouse classics including ribs, Texas style beef brisket, to steak and burgers. Serving breakfast Friday - Sunday and lunch throughout the week and a specially designed kids menu that includes ‘grown-up’ tastes and some fun healthy options, the entire family can experience the flavours of the deep South.

We ate here on a Thursday night. The weather was glorious so we sat outside. The outside space has had a makeover with new dining huts installed, I guess these are great in poorer weather, but the issue is they have reduced the number of tables that benefit from the summer evening sun.

The food was as you would expect at Hickory’s pretty decent taste and quality if not the largest portions.

The reason from my relative low rating was due to the staff. In the past we have always experienced good energetic service, this was not the case on this occasion. There was plenty of staff, but most were wandering round in a trans, a complete leathery in the service. We ordered another round of drinks, they were not forthcoming so I asked one of the servers if they were coming, suggesting we had probably been waiting 10 mins, she then brought them to our table saying ‘it was actually 15 mins’. The place felt as if it needed an injection of energy, at least in the outside area where we were sat.

Our son recommended Hickory’s after visiting Chester and then this (Rhos) venue, I am so pleased he did.
Loved the design both outside and inside, quirky and fun, service was slick and engaging. Every single member of staff was smiling and they never stopped - serving, clearing away, setting tables, making customers feel welcome. Food was really good, too. Loved it and will definitely return.

Family back home love this place. Those of us, who happen live in North America, more of the same wasn't our "cup of tea"! Although my husband who has lived in the southern US felt right at home here and thought the owners had made a good effort and loved the sausages.
On the other hand, my sister and I found the macaroni too cheesy - and we love cheese!
Sadly, not everyone in the group found this place appealing and miss the old incarnation, The Ship public house.
The owners give it a good try at this Southern theme, and obviously want to bring North America to Wales.
Not an easy thing to do, but I see they are trying.
Needs more seating though.
Keep up the effort - for those who love smokehouse food, you can make this a winner.

First time visiting Hickory’s with family whilst visiting North Wales. Really great service with fantastic food. Good size portions and well cooked. Had the burger which was not dry and would definitely visit Hickory’s again if I were in the area.
