A place to park for walking on Dinas Head. The bay here narrow so in October waves crashing in. Little church yard right by the sea.
What a fab walk - rugged and beautiful. Circular route so start and end at one point . Dog friendly. Take binoculars and camera - lots of nesting sea birds at this time of year.
If you park at Pwllgwaelod by the pub then parking is free and there are toilets there too. The start of the walk is quite challenging, steep and rugged and in my opinion is easier to walk up rather than down, if you were to walk the head the other way around. The walk winds its way around the coast and there are rewarding views. After about half way around there are 2 alternative routes to chose from. The higher route is the easier of the two. The view are not only of the sea and the bays etc but of lovely patchwork fields and sheep. At the end of the walk the pub serves fresh food including crab and prawns. The beach is quite sheltered and very pleasant to recover from the walk on! Enjoy.
Beautiful part of Wales, we have a lovely stay in a 5 star bed and breakfast in Dinas Cross which has two pubs, each with their own qualities. The location was convenient for the many beaches. We walked around the headland Dinas Head (takes approximately two hours) but take care - the lower path is treacherous. Newport is also beautiful with lots of restaurants and pubs - it also offers a lovely golf course set on the hillside with lovely views. Altogether a very stimulating weekend.
Dinas Head is lovely, we passed through on our way to a printed walk around the Island, nice pubs and worth a visit, small shop in the village selling locally made jewellery at very good prices, no cash machine but the post office has a cash service.
The whole walk takes about 2 hours. In parts it is a steep climb on an uneven path and there is a choice of path at one stretch where one path is tougher than the other. It is a circular route between two beaches both of which have some parking, toilets and drinking water tap. There's a path between the two beaches that is very easily accessible. The views are stunning. A local bus goes to at least one of the beaches.
