This was an intrepid booking for a large family get together, as I had never been to the Hotel, let alone Wedmore!
We were not disappointed, the room on the first floor oozed character, with a welcoming fire.....perfect for the younger members to potter around without disturbing other guests.. The staff were welcoming, contact prior to the day had been good (easing my nerves of what we would get!) On the day Corteney and her girls made sure that all our needs were met, from taking our drinks order to serving the food.
Due to being a group of 18 we had the choice to preorder, the majority opting for the sunday roast...we were impressed, a delicious meal, one I would be proud to say that I cooked!
We will definately be returning for our next family get together.

We spent a weekend afternoon in the bar eating and drinking. From the very start the bar was one of the friendliest I have ever been in. Everyone in the pub, both staff and customers made us feel welcome. We had the pies, steak and ale and chicken and ham hoc, at £12.50 a go they were fantastic and well worth the price. A good range of beers available.

Highly recommended.

Parking and dog friendly.

Nice Sunday lunch with helpful friendly staff in this wonderful central village pub/hotel and offers a good selection of beers. Also has a large outside garden ideal for children and large car park. Recommended.

From someone that visits The George once if not twice a week..

The bar:
The staff are always really friendly and know their drinks.. Can advise you in the right direction by giving you samples.
It has an atmosphere which most pubs/restaurants lack around the area. You'll find all types of people, local, out the area, builders, bankers, butchers.. Everyone! Which makes it authentic.

Restaurant: we've eaten here many of times and I really can't fault it. The menu changes regularly and there is such a variety it's really hard to choose from. Compared to other places in the area, it's really well priced for the portions you get..! Food is always served hot and on time and the restaurant staff are really attentive.

Overall: Be sure to keep up with the events going on at The George.. They have really good bands on which makes you're weekend!

Lovely setting, decor is wonderful, we were in mirror room. food was excellent and good portions. Staff friendly, good menu. Would highly recommend. Will be going again, and can't wait to go in winter when hopefully all those big fireplaces are full of fire to add to ambience. Prose cco was a bit pricy at 29.50 a bottle. Sticky toffee pudding was best I've ever had.
