I only stayed at the De Vere for one night on business, so my I didn't get to experience the full range of hotel amenities - but overall it was disappointing.
I was attending a conference at the hotel and the room provided for the event was cramped for the number of attendees (not necessarily the hotel's fault) and was overheated and uncomfortable. The facilities for coffee etc provided were however fine.
Food (one nights dinner and breakfast) was provided in a separate function room in the golf complex joined to the hotel. The food was ok but again the room was overheated and made the experience uncomfortable.
The bedroom was tucked away down a maze of corridors and while the room itself was generally fine, there was residual odour to the room that was a bit off putting. Whilst the room was ok, the bathroom was a bit below scratch with paint peeling from the ceiling and the shower being outdated and difficult to operate. Overall a few little things that in themselves weren't a lot but it added up to a disappointing overall impression.
One other issue - the phone reception around the hotel was really poor, so while there was an open wifi network - making an receiving calls was an issue. I was on-call for work that night so it meant I was effectively offline. I didn't get any calls - so I suppose that was a positive!!
The hotel was in a nice location - and though i didn't play, the golf course looked in nice condition! May be best just to come for a round and stay somewhere else!
