Small place which you can't find by luck. Owned by the troisgros family this restaurant serves a very inventive and simple cuisine. The menu is correctly priced at 45€ for a 4 course meal which always start by a huge pot of the soup of the day. Cold in simmer and warm in winter. We had two great versions over our stay, a consumè of asparagus and green onions and a coco beans soup with xeres vinegar. Great way to open your appetite. The menu changes periodically according to local arrivals. Staff is friendly. A great experience hidden in the French country side.

We have been there the second time. The food is pricy but of very good quality. Be prepared for at least 3 hours for a 3 course menu. This time the service wasn't very good which for this price is not ok. We were a group of 11 people with kids. Portions for the children, although we ordered a la carte for them appeared to be smaller than for the adults, yet prices were the same. We ordered additional side dishes which were never served. The head of the service team was very apologetic and friendly when we complained and even gave a little discount for the children. Food quality is what you would expect from such place, but you need to bring a lot of time due to the very slow service. Not sure we will go there a third time. Somewhat disappointing.

Lovely hidden spot, book in advance, the waiter thought he was serving at trois gros (the mother ship) which made it fun as this [lace is clearly more laid abck and doesn't beed all the white gloves around its Roanne headquarter Trois Gros.

We'll be back with friends and family, try it, you can't go wrong!

We have enjoyed La Colline for several years now and te food is always very tasteful and imaginative. And all the friends we have brought over the years thought the place fantastic even, or perhaps because, it is a bit off the beaten track - but that adds to the atmosphere. In the summer you can sip your aperitif on the terrace with a beautiful view over the Loire Valley, we had some unforgettable evenings and meals. Obviously the service people have changed over the years, but it is always a very professionell crew with a smile.

We went to "La Colline du colombier" in July 2015 with another couple in order to celebrate few events in our respective lives. It is located at 30min from Roanne but is worth the trip. The location is amazing, with a great outdoor setup (We couldn't use due to the weather).
The interior of the main building is stylish while the secondary rooms doesn't have the same charms.

The menu offers a great variety of choices, i was disapointed by the Tartare as it wasn't knife cut. We are in the middle of Charolais and I adviced the manager to either remove it from the menu or hand cut it with a knife.

The meat was delicious !

Overall for 44Euros, you can have a quality 3 courses menu, which is outstanding !
