“Lovely little cosy cottage”
Reviewed 8 April 2018 for a stay in April 2018

Many Ironbridge Gorge attractions and eating places within walking distance. Ideal for small family, couple. Telford/shopping/rail easy15 mins away. Small courtyard outside space. Bike store. Delightfully decorated, well appointed and very clean, tidy and cosy warm on arrival. Wood stove kindling and wood provided. Stove door needs rope replacing, heat generated lovely. Helpful owner with all that was going on. Unfortunately next door being renovated so early morning awakenings for move car/skip replacement, no shute so tiles dropped from roof to skip and general loud builders noise daily. Homely and I would visit again.

Management Response
23 Apr 2018
Thanks very much for your review. I'm really sorry you were disturbed by the refurbishment next door.
While it is great to see the local properties looked after I understand that this is little consolation when the noise coincides with your only few days here. I hope you will consider returning.

“Great Location”
Reviewed 20 February 2018 for a stay in February 2018

The Old Post Office is the best place we have ever stayed in as a holiday rental. The owner as gone out of her way to accommodate her guests and catered for both old and young alike, with plenty of reading material dvds and games. The place is clean, well equipped and tastefully decorated. We felt very much at home and have put the Old Post Office at the top of our list. Hope to return soon, with many thanks to Heather.

“Cosy, comfortable stay”
Reviewed 31 January 2018 for a stay in January 2018

Lovely cottage in a perfect position to explore the area. We had never visited Ironbridge before so had no idea what to expect. Staying in The Old Post Office we felt as if we were really immersed in this historic landscape! The cottage is really comfortable and very generously appointed - we loved it so much we can't wait to come back.

“A warm and comfortable base, close to local attractions.”

A lovely cottage, made even better by new double glazing (this was our second visit). Spotlessly clean on arrival, comfortable sofas and beds, big dining table, lovely BIG bath, OK shower (electric shower, so not wonderful but does the job), good kitchen utensils etc. Great selection of games and DVDs for a wide age range. Enough wood provided for two evening fires. New double glazing has made the cottage warmer and quieter, which is lovely. Just crept into the 5 out of 5, but provision of towels and a proper bath mat would make it a strong 5.

“The Old Post Office with a new twist”
Reviewed 14 December 2017 for a stay in November 2017

I booked the Old Post Office for 6 days in November - making the booking back in February. We stayed in this area a year ago and enjoyed the tranquil feeling to the area and the history around the place.
For various reasons, we didn't reach the house until early evening. We had been given loads of information by the owner about the house and how to get in etc etc. And using the sat nav, it took us to the right place where we spotted the sign at the side of the house. I didn't expect to find it quite so easily! Although it was dark, as soon as I went up the path to get the keys, a couple of lights came on so easy peasy.
The history of the building is that it was the old post office. Since then, its been upgraded and boasts a high standard of kitchen and accommodation. The old entrance door for the post office is hidden behind a heavy curtain in the living room...the room having a log burning stove to supplement the central heating. However we were out a lot of the time and didn't use the logs that had been left. The heating was more than adequate and although it was frosty outside, kept the heating down low. A large living room is comfortable; and has a good enough sized dining room, off which is the kitchen and the stairs to the bedrooms and bathroom.
The place is clean, tidy and well looked after. It had the look of having just been painted so was fresh. The kiitchen has all the dishes that you'd need...the only thing you need to bring is towels for the bathroom - and food. There was salt and pepper in the kitchen. We managed to work the oven easily and the hob was the same as one my daughter has so I'd had the training course for that! Microwave easy enough too.
Main bedroom upstairs is big enough and comfortable bed. The second bedroom had bunk beds and a wardrobe suited for children. It was just the 2 of us staying so I used the smaller wardrobe for my kilt stuff. The bathroom has obviously been renewed recently, and sports a nice modern looking bath with a shower fitting and curtain.
This is located in the centre of Ironbridge/Coalbrookedale with plenty of interesting walks nearby. Lots of nice wee shops and cafes within walking distance too.
