Myself and my 8 year old daughter and our dog visited on a whim for Sunday lunch on Easter Sunday. We hadn’t booked so we’re pleasantly surprised when we got a table within a few minutes.
My daughter and I both had the half roast chicken Sunday lunch and it was delicious.
We both left feeling very full and content (and so did the dog).
The service was faultless - we will definitely return as not many places take dogs anywhere within the pub and so it was nice to be able to bring her along with us.
We will definitely return again soon.

Thank Char G

Can you not give no stars? We have always enjoyed it here until tonight! Starters were okay. My partner got the T-Bone steak which he asked for blue. It came out more like medium, so he sent it back. It then came back out, this time FREEZING cold in the middle. We are not ones to complain but that was unbelievable! The steak was sent back for the second time, this time told not to bother bringing another one out! To top this off, the manager tried to charge us for the steak, which was not touched. Laughable really. I had a burger for main, which to be fair was really really nice. What a shame! Won’t be returning.

this pub is a true country inn...the place is full of "old world" charm. Lots of wood...lots of corners to sit in and real fires. It even allows dogs!! which is the way it should be. The food is stunningly good...from classics such as battered haddock....to pheasant goujons!!
every village should be forced to have an eagle & child...thanks to the management for keeping this pub true to its heritage.
ps the young lady serving was/is a gem ...she served us desserts even after the chef had long finished...professional, courteous and very friendly.
