We have lived several years traveling in Italy, so we know agriturismos/B&Bs in Italy well. Al Giardino degli Etruschi has been one of our favorites.
The owners/managers live on site, making for great flexibility regarding arrival times. They speak good English. They provide a nice personal touch, with a small gift in the room, and they showed our son their new baby goat, a trip highlight for him.
The property itself is immaculate and authentic. Surrounded by tall cypress trees, one feels nicely enclosed in a private Italian villa. Filled with interesting antiques, and impeccable gardens, we found ourselves thinking it would be a good place to return in order to take some family photos. Our room had the same authentic feel. Wi-fi worked well, water was hot, beds comfortable, and, critically for an agriturismo, the room was the perfect temperature, not always a sure thing when staying at agriturismos. Breakfast in the morning was plentiful, around a communal table which enabled fun conversation with fellow international guests. There's a big lawn, a gazebo, garden furniture, and a pool, so especially in the summertime it must be a wonderful place to relax. Perhaps add a hammock somewhere on that big lawn?
The other reason we chose this property was location. The best of Umbria is a 30-60 minute drive east, while the best of southern Tuscany is the same west. This property would be an ideal base for someone wanting to explore Montepulciano, Montalcino and the Val d'Orcia on a short day trip, and then maybe easily get to Trasimeno, Perugia and/or Assisi the next.
It's a good value for the price. We would definitely return.
