This place is almost incredible - if I hadn't experienced it I wouldn't believe it. First, the setting. On its own promontory extending out into Lago di Garda, with a cute little harbour large enough for about 4 boats and set in beautiful gardens. Then the hotel- hundreds of years old and in the same family all that time, it exudes glamour and old world sophistication (guests have included members of several European royal families, film stars etc). And finally the food. So many wonderful things to mention but 2 stand out. First, the antipasto buffet which included about 30 different dishes any one of which would have been rated 5*, and then the fish - if you can't get great fish on the banks of Lake Garda, then where..?
If you're wealthy, then stay here; if not, just have dinner and if that's a stretch then just have an aperitivo sitting by the harbour and watch the sunset - the closest you'll come to starring in a Hollywood movie (unless you are Tom Cruise and reading this)More
