Good structure, clean, just a littlebit "old-style"

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 15 Jul 2024
We spent 7 nights in this beautiful hotel whose staff were friendly and helpful.
The room is sufficiently large, with a large built-in wardrobe (the anti-theft hangers that prevent you from hanging your clothes outside the wardrobe are a bit anachronistic), desk, minibar; a 230V socket for each bedside table and one near the desk, sufficient for 2 mobile phones and an additional device. Those who have more needs (photography, intercoms for motorcycle helmets, computers, drones, ..) will have to bring an electric power strip from home.
The bathroom is not very modern but everything works as it should. Not very large but functional terrace with 2 chairs and comfortable drying rack for drying costumes, towels and small laundry.
Air conditioning well ADJUSTABLE to the desired temperature.
Varied breakfast, with a wide choice of sweets, which change daily. The savory menu is more static with only the choice of raw ham, cooked ham, cheese slices; the fresh ricottas are good. It's a shame that the juices are only freeze-dried; a 4-star hotel should offer freshly squeezed juice (even limiting one glass per person): oranges don't cost a fortune and juice machines are easy to clean nowadays.
We only went there once for dinner and it was to our liking, the maitre Mario was very nice.
The beach, included in the price, as can be seen from the photos, is not very large, but sufficient; the seabed is mostly sandy but muddy. The first day we went they told us that the beach doesn't open before 9:00 and the place has a "first come first serve" rule (it's right to set a time to avoid hotel guests going in beach early to reserve seats with your own towels). Only later, seeing several "reservations" of sunbeds with beach towels, and having asked for explanations, were we told that only those who stay for at least 8 nights have a fixed and reserved place.
Good parking included in the price, covered by an anti-sun sheet.
From the hotel in 15-20 minutes you can reach Port Santo Stefano on foot, along an illuminated pedestrian and cycle path.

Hotel is on a busy road into Porto San Stefano - the hotel's beach is accessible via a subway under the road. Room had a side sea view which was lovely - well maintained, clean and comfortable. We didn't eat in the hotel other than breakfast. Monte Argentario is a beautiful place and I'd be very happy to stay here again

We spent few days in the suite Letizia, which offers a large space well furnished with a very nice terrace and a great seaside view.

The service has been great, the cleaning lady was very nice and professional.

    Among the downsides:
    - the breakfast was not super- we found that the croissants were not good/fresh as you may expect from a hotel if this category
    - the private beach is ok but a little bit small and quite close to the road- we enjoyed it nonetheless

We found this place is a good pick in relation to its price

If location is your focus this a great choice. We stayed in a seaview room that has a small balcony overlooking the beautiful bay. Unfortunately there is a road between the hotel and the water so daytime traffic is quite busy. Rooms are very clean as was entire open areas. Private beach a huge plus. Staff all kind, professional and helpful. Downsides include very hard bed and pillows. Tolerable for one night. Toiletries were lacking both conditioner and lotion so pack your own. Breakfast buffet was great as was the seating area.

There is a very busy road between the hotel and the private beach.
The beach is very narrow ,so the passing traffic is very noisy and intrusive. There is a barrier so shield the beach from the traffic, but this means that much of the beach is on the shade around 5.30,The breakfast is plentiful, but there isn't much choice:crissantes are too sweet, lots of cakes but very little savoury choices.Oddly,no egg is ,only 2 kind of cheese. The wifi is very patchy, meaning that there is not internet connection at all.
No swimming pool, very disappointing for a very expensive hotel

Room tip: I don't know,I was just very disappointed for that kind of prize

    Dear annagab2014,

thank you very much for your opinion about your staying in Hotel Baia d’Argento.

We regret that you don't like our position on the north coast of Monte Argentario and you didn't find the pool, but only the sea: this information can be readen on our website.

It's true that our breakfast is mostly composed of sweet food, but there's a good choice of mixed cold cuts, cheeses (we count 5: mozzarella, ricotta, "primosale", emmental, pecorino).

And about internet, we are trying to increase internet bandwidth from the provider, because in august, with the fully booked hotel, it's inadequate.

We know that in august, during high season, our rates are high expensive, but that's the period with the highest demand of rooms.

We hope you can come back in Maremma for other period and find better offers.

    Best regards

We stayed 2 nights at the hotel and I couldn't have slept in the bed another. The hotel itself was clean, the staff helpful and friendly. The breakfast had a good selection and they make coffees to order. There is a beach across the street and there is a tunnel to access it. The views are lovely and it is a short drive into town for restaurants. Despite being on a busy road the room was quite, if the bed hadn't been like sleeping on a rock with springs poking at you then it would have been great. I do expect firm beds in Europe but this bed actually left me feeling bruised.

We are glad that you liked the rooms, our breakfast and our location. Our location is beautiful and we try to offer same quality.

At the same time we are so sorry that the bed has not lived up to the quality of our services. With the new season we have however changed the older mattresses and we are sure to have solved this problem.

We hope that in the future you will have the chance to return to the Baia d'Argento ...and try the new beds.
