Been travelling Europe for a while and sick and tired of paying too much for very touristy overpriced places no matter how hard we've tried to find otherwise. Stumbled upon Delikatessen looking for water and for every meal now have ONLY eaten there. The food is ridiculously good and authentic. Might look average but is packed with flavour which no other restaurant in Positano seems to manage. Even though the pasta is reheated (depends what time you get there) and packed nicely with plastic cutlery, it still beats Da Vincenzo, Buca di Baco etc. by a loooong shot.
Bought a bottle of white, wanted a bag of ice, lady said they didn't have any but to our surprise on paying for our shopping, a young boy delivered us a bag of ice!!!! Shop owner went above and beyond without our knowledge to give us what we needed. Best service in Italy so far.
With the sandwiches, it might look like there's nothing there but if you see the bread rolls, point one out and point anything out in the deli to have filled in the sandwich/roll. You will need to ask for the prosciutto/ham and cheese as these generally aren't on display. Meatballs with mozzarella a recommendation!
Had pretty much every pasta there was and none failed to impress.
Get your respite from rip offs, cover charges, bread baskets and overpriced average food and grab and go from here.
Great wine too...
FYI- big serve of great pasta roughly €3.50. Not joking.
