We just returned from a week at the Villa Oliviero. What an amazing home! We rented all 6 of their rooms for a group of 12 to celebrate my big 5-0 birthday. I booked through a website called Villas of Distinction 18 months in advance. I hoped and prayed that the the villa would not disappoint, and it certainly did not. We had an amazing time, loved that the home is on 3 or 4 levels. We traveled with 18-70 year olds and everyone had the trip of a lifetime. The pool is wonderful, but cold, even in July. The staff is absolutely wonderful from Genardo, our concierge, to Alaina the cook/housekeeper and the owner, Antonio and his son, Nello. Genardo is a great asset to any visitors coming in - he helped us from making dinner reservations at a restaurant we had not been able to connect with to instructing us on the best place to "order in" on our last night so we could just enjoy the view, to recommending a great fish/meat market off the beaten path to setting us up with a visit to a limoncello factory in nearby Priano.

If I had any criticisms of the place, they would be that the Villa is hard to get to and the beds are extremely hard. It is some 180+ steps above the nearest drop off point, way more than that from the center of town. This was difficult for my father who has a bad hip. My advice is take it slow on the stairs and plan a single out/in for the day so you don't have to make the trek more than once a day. The benefit, however, to being high above the city is that the views are stunning and the terraces are quiet, making for a great relaxing trip.

As for the beds, they were hard-as-a-rock. However, that seems to be pretty par for Europe in general. If there is one thing that this place could benefit from, it would be softer, more inviting beds.

The rooms were all lovely, with the exception of the beds, and the views stunning.

We booked in advance to have an arrival meal prepared in the home for our group and it was AMAZING! They have an extensive menu to choose from and we chose well - it was the perfect start to our week in Positano.

We stayed at the villa with 12 family members for 4 nights at the end of May and had an small wedding at the villa on May 26. The staff was incredible from the moment we arrived. Gennaro and Vincenzo, who work at the villa, met us on the main road and helped us carry our luggage up the many stairs to the villa, they had water waiting for us and Gennaro took us on a tour of the villa, showing us all the rooms and terraces. Our first night we had a welcome pizza party using their pizza oven on the lowest terrace by the pool. The chef made tons of pizzas, tons of fresh toppings, it was so fun and a great way to start our trip! Every morning the breakfast table was set and ready for us. Gennaro was always there in the morning offering recommendations on things to do and places to eat before we headed out for the day. The day of the wedding couldn't have gone any smoother. I had been planning with Alice, the owner, for the year leading up the wedding and everything went better than I could have imagined. Gennaro and Vincenzo helped to make sure everything was perfect, from the table layout, where the flowers should be set up, to making sure we had lunch and drinks while the bride was getting ready. After the ceremony we had a raw bar and cocktail hour on the red terrace, then dinner in the garden, then cake and dancing on the white terrace. It was great to use all the beautiful terraces and the dinner was fantastic! Villa Oliviero is an amazing venue, whether just staying for vacation or for your wedding. The rooms are beautiful, each unique, and the views of the town are breathtaking. Our time in Positano and wedding was unforgettable, and it was truly because of charm of the villa and the staff who made it so special.

Having viewed Villa Oliviero online as a possible destination for our wedding my husband and I made a trip back in April 2015 to meet with Nello Oliviero who runs the villa alongside his sister Alice. After being dropped off by our taxi on the side of a busy road we did wonder whether the taxi driver had made a mistake. However we were greeted by the fabulous Gennaro and taken on a slow walk up the many steps to the Villa. When the door to the villa was opened for us it was simply breathtaking. Tears came to my eyes, Villa Oliviero evokes quite powerful feelings and the pictures don't prepare you for its real beauty. After two nights of wonderful hospitality we decided to book our wedding for the following year.
After a year of organising with Nello and Alice we returned in May where we took the villa in its entirety for 4 nights. We were greeted by Gennaro and his team who looked after us admirably, nothing is too much and everything is always done with a smile.
Our wedding took place on the 29th May and it was magical. All of our guests were blown away by the setting and in particular the food which was first rate. We had outside caterers for the wedding day organised by the Villa but the in-house Chef Helena is amazing too! Many of our guests commented that it was the best food they had ever tasted. The following day we held a pizza party which again was brilliant.
It should be noted that I myself am an events organiser which can be difficult to hand over the reigns to someone else, however Nello and Alice did a fantastic job of answering my endless questions. A tip to any future bride is to just keep communicating, asking questions if you are not sure. Nello and Alice are extremely acccommodating as are all the staff that work there.
A huge thank you to Gennaro who is simply amazing and to Vincenzo, Helena and the rest of the team who work quietly and diligently behind the scenes.
Thank you to Villa Oliviero for giving us our dream day and we will be back again soon.

We stayed for 7 nights and had our wedding at Villa Oliviero in summer 2015. The venue itself is beautiful with stunning views from the Balcony. A lovely pool and BBQ area and beautiful terrace with 180degree views of Positano.

We had a very similar experience as TYL from Melbourne.

To stay for a week in a villa in Positano is very expensive (around 20,000 euro) so you have certain expectations of an exclusive stay, that the basics will be included, and that you have the villa at your disposal having paid a premium price for the week.

The total per room per night is far higher than most hotels but you are sold into the exclusive villa stay. There rooms were lovely but no little extras like shower gel or products. Linen, sheets and towels are not changed during your 7 night stay. At around 500euro per night these little extras would have been a nice touch.

We were greeted by staff with our bags at the bottom of the hill which was nice and they helped carry our bags up the 90+ steps to the Villa. Once we arrived they dropped the bags in the entry and disappeared. No offer to help take our bags to the rooms or even just a welcome to say hello. We all stood there a little lost, before walking around to find our rooms and lugging our own luggage down many steps to each room. Having to help our elderly guests with their bags. The staff were nowhere to be seen.

We had hired a villa for the week to be able to use the venue as our own. I had hoped to bring our own beautiful Italian wine into the villa for our wedding night, however were told that we had to purchase all food and alcohol from the villa for the wedding night. We obliged and purchased all wine and spirits from the villa direct. Just disappointing as we had hoped to buy some beautiful premium champagne at wholesale and ended up having to just buy basic wines as you are paying retail price for everything.

You also need to pay a surcharge for every single item that is brought to the villa at around 3euro per item, which can add up when organising a wedding! There is also a music curfew at 11.45pm (which I understand is not their fault) but the staff member was there literally removing our music equipment at 11.45pm.

Apart from these issues staff did an exceptional job for the wedding night.

For the pizza party by the pool the next day we paid the guy to make pizzas for our guests, at around 45 euro per person, only to be told we had to pay for all alcohol again from the villa. Being sold into renting our own villa for the week we had told our guests to BYO a bottle of wine for the afternoon to enjoy by the pool but were told they would have wine confiscated at the door if they brought any. We also had left over alcohol from our wedding bar the night before (which we had paid for!), so asked if we could at least use the leftover wine for guests but were told we had to re-buy all drinks that day. This was really disappointing as it felt like we were being ripped off. Again this is a private villa, not a hotel so you should be free to host as you wish and not be subject to hidden prices for everything.

We had a lovely meal cooked by the cook at the villa one night, but bear in mind the whole party needs to order the same dish. You cannot order meals like in a restaurant. The view was spectacular though and well worth it.

The spa was not working when we were there which was disappointing.

Staff leave early afternoon so if you need entry or anything from them they are unavailable.

Sometimes the main gate was left open so one of our guests locked the door into the main lounge room (all other doors to the same room were still open) and our guests were yelled at by staff for locking the door. My guests called me very distressed as they hadn't even locked the door themselves and were being accused of something they had not done. The door was opened an hour later when the guest returned. And the room was still accessible via the other 3 open doors!

Upon our departure we asked to get help with our bags down the 90 steps to be told we would be charged to take them down! One guy said 5 euro per bag, then the other guy said 15euro per bag! We really felt like we were getting ripped off. After all the money we had spent that week this felt like a real insult and lack of customer service that would be basic in a hotel.

Ironically the staff were unhappy when we didn't leave a tip (on top of what we had already paid) complaining about it in Italian, however I understand Italian.

One staff member there Gennaro is wonderful, the only guy who was always friendly, kind, helpful and fantastic customer service. All credit to him as he makes the place.

It's a wonderful place with spectacular views but really let down by the lack of customer service and hidden charges. You would have far better service in a hotel and at half the price.

I hope they sort out the customer service/extra charges at some point as it has all the potential for a magical stay.

Good morning Stacey
Thank you very much for your valuable feedback from your stay at Villa Oliviero.
This is a good opportunity for us because overtime we get a feedback we value the opportunity to improve our service to
all our guest and make sure we correct the issues immediately.
The main question I actually have for you is " Do you have a copy of our contracts for the villa where all the rules and regulations and restrictions are listed? "
If no then i will be glad to go over that with and address your suggestions and make sure we can get this cleared up.
Sometimes misunderstanding comes out from a bad communication with the wedding planning service.

Luckily this report came out after a long series of good one which I hope can testify something went wrong at this specific occasion.

So here I am with answer:
- weekly rate is never been 20000 euro (unless the agent in between overcharged his own client) as clearly reported on the web.
- The house comes with 4 person staff including maid and concierge speaking a fluent English;
- Courtesy kit from Argan are in each bathroom and daily change of professional linen and towel are included in the rental rate.
- Villa Oliviero is not on the main road but there are some steps to walk.
As clearly shown in the contract and house rules of the house we have a time for check in and out and we can guarantee a porterage service for the luggage free of charge during this time.
Outside this time we must call the local porterage service in Positano which charge you; and the price is different for daily or nightly arrival and departure. But unfortunately this is not up to us.
- Once in the house Gennaro, our concierge will personally take care of you and your guests welcoming in the house and the rooms.
- During the regular rental time you are totally free to manage yourself at your best convenience, purchase your own food and beverage and cook by yourself with no extra charges.
- On the wedding day and for parties to be held at the Villa food and beverage must be provided by the catering.
The full amount of food and beverage which you pay for on the wedding day belongs to you and of course if anything remain will be still yours during the day or even on the next day.
- Music in Positano must stop at midnight. But the music providers depends from the wedding planning agreement.
- The villa is provided with a swimming pool plus an outdoor jacuzzi hot tub and a steam room. We require about 1 hour to have these ready from the moment you ask for this service from the staff.

Finally I would like to guarantee you that we are all very focused on our client best satisfaction which is the reason for which we all work hard and truly interest and again we will take this opportunity for reaching an even better standard of customer service.

Warm regards
Nello Oliviero

Villa Oliviero is a magical place! The view is the most impressive I've ever seen in my life, the food the most delicious and the staff eager to please you and make your stay unforgettable.
My husband and I got married there last week-end and we had a huge thunderstorm in Positano on that day. Despite these conditions the team was great and allowed us to have the day of our life. The weather even added a dramatic touch to the scenery!
We thank Nello, Alicia and their staff from the bottom of our hearts for everything they did, from the organisation to the decoration, food and service, we have been impressed.
Next day was sunny again and our pizza party by the pool has been a great success (the best pizza in Italy:))
The villa offers everything you could expect for a memorable stay: confortable rooms with amazing sea views, different terraces and levels to enjoy different moment during the day, outdoor pool facing the Positano village landscape and the sea etc..
This place has a unique feel and we'll keep these memories in our hearts forever.
We can't wait to go back and share more unforgettable moments in this beautiful villa with our loved ones!
