Pensione Casa Guadagno

Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 31 July 2016

Pensione Casa Guadagno was recommended by a friend living in Positano. It's family owned and everyone there is super friendly. Rooms are bright and client. Free breakfast and WiFi is included. Fantastic views of the sea from the shared terrace. While the beach is a 10 minute walk away, please note that there are 418 steps to get there. Going down is not so bad, but climbing back up is strenuous. From the road, there are 37 steps to get to the hotel. You can walk to downtown in about 15 minutes.

Room Tip: Great views

This beautiful family run Pensione has the feel of being tucked away into the cliff side and the glorious and Quiet view of the ocean; as well as only being a 15min walk to beach or 'city centre' area.
Of a night rather than walk down into the busy area we went to the restaurants just a 5 min walk and were sooo happy with them- ristorante Saraceno d'oro and il capitano. Breakfast each morning was delicious and cappuccinos served promptly and were great. Very helpful to find where things were and how to get to path of Gods etc. Room had air con also.
The best bit was looking over the ocean and all the little boats and being able to hear the water gently lapping at their sides as it was such a peaceful area to stay

We enjoyed our 3 night stay in room #7 with my wife and two of our kids. The kids had their own bed, which made it very accommodating. The location is great if you like a little more peace and quiet. Close to the beach, just 404 steps down, but should be expected if you visit the Amalfi Coast. They recommended a couple of local restaurants and gave us discount cards to use. We visited one.....all three nights since it was so good. Great breakfast with a good cappuccino made per your request. They even gave us some breakfast to take with us the last night, since we were departing early the next morning. Nice balcony and view. Would stay here again.

This six room hotel has been run by the same family since 1954. Philoteo greeted us upon arrival and made delicious cappuccino every morning. Our room was great; comfy bed & pillows, crisp linens. We had a small balcony with table and chairs overlooking the water and boats from above .. just lovely! The bathroom must have been renovated recently, the tile work is beautiful, and it was a very good size. Everything we needed including a great hair dryer. Continental breakfast was included on the lovely open air terrace with great views. Philoteo and Sabrina spoke perfect English and were very helpful tracking down ferry times, and making dinner reservations. The best part ... not so far to walk from the taxi drop off or bus stop and only a few stairs. I peeked into a couple of other rooms .. they were just as lovely as ours, all had beautiful tile. The hotel and rooms are adorned with beautiful colorful paintings that were painted by Philoteo's father. We will definately be coming back!!!!

Room Tip: The way the hotel is situated, I believe they all share the same view ... which is BEAUTIFUL!

The view was worth the 4 stars alone. Private balcony in room 3 was very nice. The location was great, with a buncha steps to Positano's smaller, less crowded beach and a short walk to the bus stop. Breakfast and hotel staff was good. Wifi wasn't great.
Suggestion for hotel: send out an email with thorough instructions on how to reach the hotel upon arrival in Positano.
Suggestion for guests: bring comfortable shoes for the many steps. bring flip-flops for the rocky beach.
