Great location, excellent people (family owned and English is perfect), couldn't have asked for more as a fantastic base for the Amalfi! Less busy and far more care taken than in Positano . Parking, great free continental breakfast...way more than you would expect to see from a 2 star

We have been returning to this hotel for 8 years and simply cannot fault it. The views are stunning and the rooms are spacious with an old world charm. The hotel is family owned and managed and you are treated like family with nothing too much trouble. The food is fantastic and the staff are happy to make recommendations.

Room Tip: all rooms are front facing with a view over the coast

Beautiful location with friendly atmosphere and ocean views. The food was amazing! The stuff pepper was the largest I’ve ever seen and burst with flavor as did the zucchini flowers, lightly battered and filled with yummy cheese. If you like cheese you have to try the crepes! The lemon bomb (don’t remember what it was really called) OMG it melted in my mouth, a must try if you like lemon.

If you are looking for a well run, family owned, simple hotel with breathtaking views---this is your spot. The rooms are simple, but adequate. The view from your balcony and dinner across the street at a table by the seaside is spectacular. Praiano is much more mellow and less touristy than Positano---but Positano, Ravello and Amalfi are just short bus rides away. The small beach is a 15 minute walk. Be prepared for the hike down and up. Pasquale, Stefania, Mom & Dad, went out of their way to make us feel welcome and well taken care of. We can not say enough good things about Open Gate. Word to the wise, if you don't have a car, the bus times are not reliable. They may zip through a stop if they are full, they may show up earlier than their time and have to keep going due to the size of the road. Make sure to arrive early for them.

Room Tip: Make sure to relay that you would like a firm mattress and a view of the sea.

We 1st came here 15 years ago for our 10th wedding anniversary and came back for our 25th anniversary.
A small family run hotel which is situated between the mega busy towns of Amalfi and Positano.
Clean basic rooms with air conditioning.
Great breakfast included of fruit juice, cereal , pastries, ham, cheese, boiled eggs, fruit salad, tea, coffee.
Lovely sea views and dinner on the terrace overlooking the sea.
Friendly and relaxed.
