Contrary to recent reviews, we found this hotel to be fairly shabby and uncomfortable. Our room was down a steep flight of stairs, There is no elevator. The room was badly in need of refurbishing and the shower was particularly uninviting. The street noise at night was very disturbing and persistent. Also, despite parking described as "free" on TripAdvisor, there is a €10 charge for a rather tight space. We shall not return.

This is a very nice small hotel with very helpful and honest staff, maybe the best for the money. Parking, for small fee--in a city where parking is a problem. It's up and down, but you can easly walk to anytiing in the city.

We walked from the train Station with a map in our hands but still had difficulty finding the Hotel. After walking in circles, locals ended up helping us. We were greeted warmly by Franco one of the brothers that operate the Hotel. We were given room 6 which was on a higher floor overlooking the busy and sometimes noisy street but always interesting to watch people walk by.

The room was very clean and well kept with a roomy closet and drawers for our clothes. Beds were comfy and the bathroom was clean and very nice.

The continental breakfast included in the room was very good with tasty croissants, fruit, juice and other good things to eat. The coffee machine had a variety of options to pick from.

The Hotel is only a 5 minute walk from La Pigna, the old town and a local market. It is centrally located to Supermarkets, bus stops and Restaurants. On two separate days we took a bus to Ventigmilia, Transfered to a mini bus to drive up the mountain to Pigna and Dolceacqua, a couple of beautiful medieval towns. Loved the trips and if you buy your bus tickets at the Tobacco store it is cheaper than on the bus. Don't try to do this on a Sunday, the buses don't go up the mountain on that day. We found out the hard way by waiting for an hour till someone stopped to give us this information.

The only problem was that there was no English Language TV station and after a week stay it would have been great to have BBC world. Most Hotels have this option!

A few minute walk from the Hotel along the ocean is a beautiful 25 km bike/walk path following the sea. We walked to the town of Bussana where there is a big supermarket the " Carrefour" we we bought food for a picnic along the path overlooking San Remo Harbour. It was the highlight of our stay in San Remo.

There is also a nice walking/shopping street and casino that is nice to walk in the evenings. There were quite a few tourist in the city which we did not expect in May

Thank you Franco, Gabriele & Olga for looking after us so well! Franco, you kept us entertained with your stories at breakfast. Great meeting everyone! Ivar & Gunda

The Riviera Hotel is a nice little basic hotel that's well worth a stay.

The rooms are clean and the beds we slept in were comfy and had particularly crisp sheets which is always a plus in a hotel. The air conditioning was brilliant.

Breakfast was continental and was adequate.

This hotel had a couple of funky touches. There was a cool little sign welcoming guests to the breakfast room (see photo) and, even more weirdly, a rabbit had the run of the place. In the evening it was in a lovely big hutch on the main terrace of the hotel but by the morning it had been allowed out to wander and was eating a carrot behind the hotel bar!

The hotel is in a nice central location.

I would come back here.

This is a family run hotel and it's great. They were extremely friendly, clean rooms and amazing cappuccino. The location is perfect. It's right next to the casino, shopping, restaurants and a 5 minute walk to the beach. There is little or no parking around the hotel (common in Italy), however, lots of parking at the beach. You can buy a full day pass for 8€ or half day for 4€ at the tobacco and lottery store close by. Otherwise you pay 1.20€ per hour. The staff also advised us of the this which was really helpful. I'd highly recommend staying here. Great value for your money.
