My first time here - we joined friends. Scanno is a charming village and Hotel Roma - also. Great welcome, service and food. Ideal spot to spend the Epiphany with Bevade paying us a visit. Lovely trip into the mountains - and an arrangement with La Maga del Lago fie lunch. A must to return.

Stayed here for a night whilst on an Italian road trip. We arrived having come through the mountains on a motorbike in the rain, to find all the doors locked. The side door directs you to the front door which has a sign 'night entrance' only! So we rang the hotel, having stood in the rain for over ten minutes, to be let in by a stroppy housekeeper in fluffy slippers who made it very clear she had been disturbed. The hotel is quite old fashioned but there are some lovely marble floors and other decor. The room was cold but clean, and there was lots of hot water. The bed was very basic and pillows reminiscent of shredded wheat! Don't visit Scanno on a Wednesday, nothing is open and there was only one basic pizza place to get food. We had had a long day and were looking forward to at least a good nights sleep but the church bells rung every half an hour right through the night. Breakfast was extremely disappointing and the owner, who we met the next morning, rude and dismissive. Not recommended.

My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights at the beginning of August and really enjoyed our stay here. The hotel is well sited and easy to find. Our room was spacious and clean and had a great view from the balcony. Breakfast is served in a well appointed dining room, nice coffee, fruit juice, breads and cakes, just a little short on savoury items though. The owner is a very pleasant and helpful lady. We didn't have any evening meals here, there are some lovely places to eat in Scanno, about 5 mins walk from the hotel.
Would stay here again if we return to this area.

Room tip: We had a room at the front of the hotel, great view, but beware of the church bells!!!

The Hotel Roma is located before you reach the Scanno town center. As you approach Scanno on SS479, the hotel with its reddish- orange facade can easily be spotted on your right on Valle della Pineta. As you go inside the hotel, it does feel like you are entering someone’s tastefully decorated home with beautiful artwork, marble floors. The hotel is very well-maintained and very clean. If you want peace and quiet and the chance to really relax, this is the hotel. You get this plus the easy accessibility of being about a 5 minute walk away from the town center.

The owner of the hotel, Signora Costanza, speaks English and is quite delightful and informative. She also used to run a restaurant in Rome and this hotel has a great restaurant which offers a variety of delicious dishes. We had intended to stay in Sulmona but a friend suggested we stay instead in Scanno and sign up for cooking classes, for a different experience of Italy. Thankfully, we took her up on her suggestion. You have a choice of which meal to prepare and we picked dinner. We did learn a lot from their very patient chef, Michael. The lessons/food prep took 2 hours and what we made, we were able to enjoy for dinner.

We got a room with a view of the street leading to the city center and the front entrance. The room was cleaned everyday and since the hotel was doing their part for the environment, they left it to the guest to let them know if they wanted their towels changed. They offer free wi-fi and the strength of the connection depended on the device one was using. I noticed that with an iPad or an iPhone, I could easily connect in my room but I had also brought a Mac whose antenna signal wasn’t as strong and I discovered, I had to go to the reception area to get a good connection.

Parking is easy on the street outside of the hotel.

Breakfast offers several choices: cereal, yogurt, a variety of meats, cheeses and breads, homemade sweets, fruits, juices, coffee and tea.

Its location is perfect if you want to explore some surrounding towns close to Scanno like Sulmona, Villalago. There is a beautiful lake at the foot of the gorgeous Majella mountains which lends itself to several activities: you can rent a boat, go swimming, go hiking or biking and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

You'll find this red hotel before entering in the small village of Scanno. As soon as you enter you feel like you are in the house of someone because nicely decorated with antique furniture and beautiful rugs.On your right the huge restaurant of the hotel.
The corridors are in marble and extremely clean. Our room was comfortable ,decorated with nice old furniture but with a tiny bathroom with no window.
We had a good dinner and there is plenty for breakfast.
The owner is a lovely lady that will give you advices about what to do in the area.

Room tip: The area is very quiet so I think that all the rooms are fine.
