Review of Aequa Hotel
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 24 Jun 2024
On the recommendation of friends, who have been visiting Hotel Aequa for many years, my sister and I booked 6 nights with a picture perfect seaside view room overlooking the Gulf of Naples with Mt. Vesuvius in the distance. Giacomo was great at communicating with me before the trip, booked a car for me to transport us from Naples Airport, and booked us excursions to Mt. Vesuvius, Pompeii, Positano, and Amalfi. We also enjoyed dinner there, and breakfasts were a giant buffet of so many delicious choices. We also enjoyed lounging by the beautiful pool. La dolce vida!

The staff here are fantastic and we enjoyed our 9 day stay here very much. The hotel team are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The hotel is very clean and room staff do an immaculate job each day. Giacomo can also book tours and car hire, and helped us with any queries we had. We had a fantastic view of Vesuvius and the bay of Naples from our balcony.
There is a great variety of food for breakfast and the hotel is well place for exploring the town and very convenient for the train station too. We found an amazing bakery close to the hotel called
Andrea and Gianni pasticceria.
Our 3 kids 14,10,8 all enjoyed the pool area which is very well maintained and clean. The hotel is very child friendly.
Many thanks to Giacomo and his hard working team.
Grazie mille!

The pro’s.

If I could review on service alone, I would have given 5 stars. Agostino on reception is an absolute credit to the hotel. When we arrived we were disappointed with the room, we went to reception and initially the man on duty said he needed an hour to look into it. Then Agostino introduced himself, ( I immediately knew the name as he had been my contact on booking.com and had been so helpful and communicative in arranging the booking.) Having been told it would take an hour, Agostino immediately found us another room and said have a look. We decided to stick with the original room as it had a stunning view, but it was very small with one wardrobe for four people. Agostino immediately arranged for another wardrobe to brought from another room. He then helped to arrange several long distance taxi’s for us when we went sightseeing. He couldn’t do enough for us, and along with Adriano and Roberto around the pool they were all exceptional.

The location is fantastic, in walking distance of the train station and some superb local restaurants in Vico. The room was cleaned every day. The breakfast wasn’t to my taste, but had enough choice to get by- and the coffee is lovely.

Con’s.

They’re are parts of the hotel that are quite art deco and that’s lovely because of the style and setting of the building- but they’re other parts of the hotel that are just old and in disrepair. The pool steps are loose. The hallway carpets are frayed in places and need replacing. Our room was small and quite dated. (But did have a stunning view) The sink plug didn’t work, (reception just took it out) The shower kept slipping down the pole as the grip had worn out. The bedroom furniture has seen better days. This didn’t get in the way of having a great time, but if you pay for 4 star it’s the details and finish that make it so.

In summary.

Exceptional service- easily 5 Star.

Hotel is ok overall but only 3 star

Therefore I gave it 4 stars as the staff make up for it.

Dear Customer,
We thank you for both the positive and negative criticism regarding the modernization of some parts of the structure. However, we would like to clarify that the hotel is almost completely renovated and we will complete it by the end of this year. In any case, we will take your words to heart and We hope to be able to welcome you back here soon. The staff of the Aequa Hotel

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for a week in May 2024. We highly recommended it, the staff were lovely & really looked after us. I celebrated my 55th birthday whilst there and our Travel Sphere rep Dr Karina together with the hotel chef arranged for a birthday cake.

We stayed 4 nights in April in a 'Superior Mare' room, with a good view from the balcony towards the 'pool and bay. The pool wasn't yet open, until early May, but we could see it would be great to have. Breakfasts were really good & substantial, and all the staff were friendly and really helpful, from the desk to the dining-room.
It was great to come back to Vico Equense after a crowded Sorrento..the station is only about 3 minutes walk, and we used the Curreiri bus to/from the hotel for Naples airport..stop about 50 metres up the road opposite the Curreiri office.
We would certainly stay here again!

Friendly staff, great facility, beautiful swimming pool and enough sun loungers for us all! views across to vesuvius, great stuff
we were a large group so the menu was set for us - some days the food was great, some I was less sure, but that was the only reason it's not scored 5 with me

Room tip: gelateria gabrielle a short walk away is fantastic for late night ice cream, and the train line it's on is perfect for pompeii and sorrento
