We were very excited to stay here. It was the "kick off" first stop on a bucket list trip to Europe which later included going to Paris for the Opening Ceremonies. We wanted to stay at the best place away from Sorrento and Amalfi Tourist spots. we wanted to relax, have good food and exceptional service and not have to worry about anything. The property was beautiful and food and pool staff were great but the management and concierge were terrible. I was travelling with my 80 year old mom and called to book a room with two beds. I explained she was old and we both snore. I was shown photos of a spacious room that had two beds far apart. Special trip, i was willing to spend close to $900 per night. The room as tiny! and the beds were smushed up against each other. Hardly a deluxe over sized room. I asked the manager and was told "This is the room you booked, we only have one suite" Live and learn. The TV never worked. we had maintenance come everyday to play with the remote and the buttons and sometimes they got it to work, other times we were told they would get back to us. Concierge was completely useless. Communications and directions on how to get from Naples Airport to the hotel left out many details. Booking a day trip to Pompeii was impossible. We ended up just taking a train to Pompeii ourselves and figuring it out when we got there. It would havebeen nice to have a compentant concierge say "when do you want to go?" and just book it. Also, when you google "Vico Equense " and "SCUBA" Capo La Gala comes up as the top hotel for SCUBA. When I asked concierge about SCUBA, I was informed about snorkeling options. I corrected them and said SCUBA and they gave me the name of ONE place over an hour away! a good and knowledgeable manager/concierge of a 5 star hotel would have presented me with options. When we arrived to check in, we had about 40 minutes before our room would be ready...we were offered a glass of water or a Lemoncello. I asked if they had coffee and i was told if i wanted a coffee, i would have to go down to the restaurant to order it for myself. Really? you cant just say "OK, cream or sugar with that? In a 5 star hotel with top notch service, they would have....For $900 per night in a place so beautiful, I expect the staff to be more knowledgeable and accommodating. So yes, 5 stars for the beauty of the location and property but ZERO stars for management and concierge and "guest treatment" and two stars for the tiny room that was mis represented in photos during booking. It was a good visit for 3 nights, but knowing what I know now, I probably would have stayed somewhere else. Perhaps my expectations are too high? not for $900 a night.
