Italian Paradise on The Sea!

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 25 Sept 2024
This was my first boutique hotel and I must say, it really set the bar high. From the incredible staff, to the breathtaking views… I was in awe and essentially in paradise for a week! We had a room with a balcony overlooking the ocean and it was the most amazing view to start and end your day to! The rooms seem to be outfitted in nautical fashions with Italian flare and that theme carries on throughout the hotel. The hotel grounds has enough amenities so there’s no way to get bored! There’s the gym if you’re a gym rat and you get a lovely view while you work out, there’s the spa where you can indulge in a HOST of treatments. We got a couples massage and facials and it was just out of this world. Not all of the staff is fluent in English but they really do try and it’s an opportunity to learn/practice Italian as a guest in their abode. The food was fresh & simple which was a much needed change in my usual day to day diet. Overall… 10/10 would recommend your stay here! You won’t regret it!
Date of stay: September 2024
Room Tip: If the waves are rough or the pool water is too cold, prepare for the spa to be crowded.

Capo La Gala was everything we could ask for. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, the property was beautiful, and the rooms were very clean. We arrived late at night but they met us at the door and gave a warm welcome. We had breakfast here every morning and the service and food were great. The pool area was beautiful and again top quality service.

They are located outside of the busy areas which is one of the reasons we decided to stay here. Although we were just outside of town, they offered a complementary shuttle into Vico Equense which was very convenient. When we needed to get to Positano or the airport they would have a ride scheduled for us with Jackson & Jackson who were also amazing and always on time.

A beautiful relaxing stay at this boutique hotel located not far from Sorrento. It was the perfect stop before heading to Capri and Postiano. Hotel was lovely and very relaxing. The view from our room was simply stunning. The food was lovely and staff were friendly and apologies I did not get the name of one of the team members who helped book our ferry tickets and transfer to Sorrento for our ferry to Capri. Hotel is nestled into a mountain so few steps down and up but a lift is available.

My only disappointment was that for what you pay you would expect breakfast to be fully included, not have some items included and have to pay extra for Egg Royal or pancakes. It's a small hotel so you'd think they could have included all items for breakfast especially when for what they charge. However, having said this I would definitely visit again.

We were very excited to stay here. It was the "kick off" first stop on a bucket list trip to Europe which later included going to Paris for the Opening Ceremonies. We wanted to stay at the best place away from Sorrento and Amalfi Tourist spots. we wanted to relax, have good food and exceptional service and not have to worry about anything. The property was beautiful and food and pool staff were great but the management and concierge were terrible. I was travelling with my 80 year old mom and called to book a room with two beds. I explained she was old and we both snore. I was shown photos of a spacious room that had two beds far apart. Special trip, i was willing to spend close to $900 per night. The room as tiny! and the beds were smushed up against each other. Hardly a deluxe over sized room. I asked the manager and was told "This is the room you booked, we only have one suite" Live and learn. The TV never worked. we had maintenance come everyday to play with the remote and the buttons and sometimes they got it to work, other times we were told they would get back to us. Concierge was completely useless. Communications and directions on how to get from Naples Airport to the hotel left out many details. Booking a day trip to Pompeii was impossible. We ended up just taking a train to Pompeii ourselves and figuring it out when we got there. It would havebeen nice to have a compentant concierge say "when do you want to go?" and just book it. Also, when you google "Vico Equense " and "SCUBA" Capo La Gala comes up as the top hotel for SCUBA. When I asked concierge about SCUBA, I was informed about snorkeling options. I corrected them and said SCUBA and they gave me the name of ONE place over an hour away! a good and knowledgeable manager/concierge of a 5 star hotel would have presented me with options. When we arrived to check in, we had about 40 minutes before our room would be ready...we were offered a glass of water or a Lemoncello. I asked if they had coffee and i was told if i wanted a coffee, i would have to go down to the restaurant to order it for myself. Really? you cant just say "OK, cream or sugar with that? In a 5 star hotel with top notch service, they would have....For $900 per night in a place so beautiful, I expect the staff to be more knowledgeable and accommodating. So yes, 5 stars for the beauty of the location and property but ZERO stars for management and concierge and "guest treatment" and two stars for the tiny room that was mis represented in photos during booking. It was a good visit for 3 nights, but knowing what I know now, I probably would have stayed somewhere else. Perhaps my expectations are too high? not for $900 a night.

Room tip: Do not rely on the concierge to help you with anything

Dear Mr. Ruusta, I'm Mario Acampora, the manager of the Capo La Gala hotel and unfortunately I've never had the pleasure of talking to you so I don't know who you spoke to and mistook for the manager. I'm sorry to read your disappointement and I apologize for this. For us, customer satisfaction always comes first. I would just like to point out that the room you booked (Prestige type) fully corresponds to the photos and description on our website and the other sales channels... at the reception staff you mistakenly showed the photos of our suite which is a completely different type of room. With the hope of having you as our welcome guest in the next future, I wish you all the best.

Lovely hotel in a beautiful spot. The sunsets were the best. Great bar to have cocktails in and watch the sun go down. We had a lovely room with doors going out onto our own terrace which was gorgeous. Very helpful staff too. If you are doing tourist things such as Pompei and Naples it's the perfect place to retire too after a hot hectic day. Especially if you like sea swimming.
