The clos la boetie is a good hotel, a solid 4 star with good, clean rooms and very nice bathrooms. We showed up at 3pm and our rooms were still not ready, but the Manager was very nice ( much more than his staff). Their breakfast is quite good ,altough a bit pricey. Location is excellent, a 5mn walk to the medieval center . They have a garage quite close, which is an attraction for Sarlat. This is a practical place to explore Sarlat, altough not cheap. If you want a more romantic place, try something else.

5.8

We liked:
Central patio ....not kept well, but lovely nonetheless
Bathroom has good size and convenient
Private parking to hotel near by.....we had to park car.... No service

Did not like:
1. Location....too far from old city centre
2. No service....no concierge, no restaurant or bar or valet or car park or porter or bell boy.....YOU do everything!!!
3. Staff not very helpful....excuses every time we asked for something and it seemed like we bother them
4. Registration on another building with the 4* hotel next to this property...have to cross open patio with no cover or roof...it happens that it was raining when we arrived 5.Umbrella was old and tattered....only one left
6. Pool area and exercise room are a joke. Hot tub needs a good cleaning: MOLDY
7. Too expensive for what they offer
This is definitely NOT a 5* hotel. We have been to 4* better than this with better service an attitude.

Solution:
Go to another hotel...Place Madeleine is at entrance of the Old City....with restaurant and bar. Nice staff and better price
Lovely place where my friends stayed.

Room Tip: None....too expensive for what they offer

We had the pleasure of staying at this lovely hotel with its friendly and helpful staff. They gave us many recommendations for places to visit and restaurants to experience. The room was excellent with a quaint terrace included. This stay was a recommendation from France@Leisure and we could definitely understand the attraction to the area. We look forward to a return visit.

We have stayed for two nights in this hotel. Overall the impression was quite good. Happy to come again.

We have been underwhelmed by the whirlpool.

There is a strange parking system. There are a few roads where you can park for free (at least at the time of the year when we were there), but cars were towed away from some of the streets. There is also a paid parking nearby.

On one of the days we had a strange odour in the room, we were informed that there is a problem with the pipes, they did something to rid of the smell. The good thing is that there are plenty of windows - I really appreciate this as I like to sleep with the windows open to enjoy the fresh air, albeit there might be some noise from the streets which did not bother me.

We have eaten breakfast once in a next door 4-star hotel, which is somehow affiliated to Clos La Boetie. We did not have a breakfast in the hotel itself.

Our travel agent (France @ Leisure) recommended staying here for 4 nights as part of our travel itinerary to the Dordogne region of south-west France. But we were very disappointed with this hotel for the following reasons:

Our booking was for a a prestige terrace room. On arrival, we were told the terrace room was taken and were given a garden room instead. Except there is no real garden attached to it other than a hedge isolates it from the building's main entrance.

The room has windows that opens to the main road with no security bars or privacy.

The hotel has no Concierge or (porter /bell boy) service, instead guests are asked to wheel or carry their own bags/luggage. And if you are in luck then the receptionist might lend you a hand.

The room was stuffy, humid, and smelly. We had to keep the garden door open at all times and the (cat) kept coming in!

The air condition in the room is blocked to 19c and limited fan speed.

The room was right next to the main entrance of the building (shared with the hotel next door) with constant people chatter, tour vans noises and luggage being wheeled in and out.

This hotel shares the premises (including the entrance, the garden, pool and spa) with across the courtyard 3star sister hotel.

The bathroom had a number of loose rattling titles, which gave the feeling of a cheap motel.

The bathroom had a magnifying mirror hooked on a far end corner from the basin which was hard to get into and use.

The bathroom had a spa that functions well but the hotel did not provide enough bath gel for tow people.

Our room door opens out to the hotel's dinning room, right into a set table. One morning during breakfast time, we accidentally nearly knocked someone off her chair when we opened our bedroom door to get out. Very odd and peculiar arrangement!

One bottle of complimentary water and its only provided on the first night.

The hotel staff did not bother replacing the tea bags in our room after we used them on the second day of our stay.

Guests are given the impression of being nuisance when they ask for information or ask for something.

This hotel operates on a minimum staff business model. One staff is the receptionist/the concierge/the Houskeeper/the waiter and the cook. Hence the impatient and arrogant (you are waisting my time) attitude.

We paid €28 for breakfast that consist of petite pastry basket and baby jam and butter.

Parking is free off the street at your own risk or pay €12 a day for hotel parking.

The hotel's furnishings and ambience is fit for a maximum of four stars.

The garden area looked very tired and shabby, the pool looked in inviting and garden beds were turned on their side. The swimming pool is very small with a pull over cover and the spa is a plastic tub full of mould.

The hotel does not have a bar or a restaurant.

The fitness room is located in a smelly basement and consist of poor equipment with a pile of junk.

I will definitely not stay at this hotel again.

Room Tip: Stay away from this place
