Some incredibly well preserved buildings and still in use, though sadly odd ones are empty. A well preserved and vibrant city.

Place Henri IV is a tiny square plaza (20 by 20 metres) close to the cathedral. It is surrounded by brightly coloured half-timbered houses from the 15th and the 16th century. The ground floors are occupied by shops (a chocolate shop, a jewellery shop, a tobacconist & newsagent and a leather & umbrella shop) and, of course, the inevitable creperie. Strangely enough no regulations seemed to be imposed on the shop owners on this historic square. A bright green and white striped awning on a yellow and white half-timbered house is just too much of a good thing!

For the rest, there isn't much to see but Place Henri IV offers a nice view on the cathedral spire.

A beautiful example of the old meeting the new. The architecture and history is beautiful and very interesting. Amazing shops and cafes.

The fact that these building are still standing is a testament to their sturdy construction. Some of the buildings are showing their age, and one can image the extensive renovations, maintenance required to keep the building is good shape for the tourists to admire. If you have never seen a medieval city, this is a good example, but good to keep in mind that in medieval times, these buildings never looked so good.
