We stayed here 1 night and won't be back.

First of all the good points:
1. Location
2. Nice building from the outside
3. Art on the hotel

Now the not so good points:
1. The premises as well as the room were dirty - the corridor carpet is stained with brown smudges and other stains. We also had a dirty towel
2. The public areas smell - I can only assume it has to do with the carpet but it was bad
3. The layout is impractical - although there are only few rooms, ours was well at the back so we embarked on a long walk every time we needed anything
4. Wifi didn't work
5. Staff was confused - we were accused of not having paid until we produced written confirmation from the booking agency.
6. Overpriced for what it is
7. There clearly is untapped potential but the way it is now, do NOT recommend

Room Tip: Don't stay here

Booking a 4* spa hotel to find:
. Underwear left in my room
. Owners smoking in the hotel
. Dog hair on the floor
. Cigarette smelling in the morning on my floor
. Dogs barking at night
. Zero insolation
Have never imagined that such hotel would exist.

Shower Water is either freezing or cold , breakfast disorganised , decor very cheap and tasteless. Only good thing is location and kindness of staff but overall inefficiencies disqualify this hotel as a 4 star one. Sorry because Barbizon is beautiful and worth staying if you accept that few restaurants serve after 9pm.

Very nice hotel with friendly staff. Sweet little bar and a swimming pool. Room was very nice with bathrobes and slippers. Would stay again for sure.
For Americans the air conditioning doesn't come on this time of year but the window brings in cool air and sleeping at night was no problem.

So what's good about this hotel, other than its attractive external face in the charming village of Barbizon?

It has a nice large bathroom with tub and separate shower. A comfy bed. A lovely person manning the front desk (and all other hotel services) during a very slow holiday season.

But remove the minibar (required for a 4 star) and what is left is a 3 star hotel. Rooms are spartan/modern, with no visible cache, similar (probably) to rooms in the Novotel chain.

Bathroom towels were actually frayed which is entirely unacceptable in a 4 star; carpets in hallways stained, disgusting and dirty, equally unaccetable.

While I don't use hot water/coffee/tea amenities, this hotel could make up for some of the downsides by providing this very small extra.

There is absolutely nothing to shout about. This hotel doesn't receive high ratings from booking.com, and the comments it receives on this site are accurate and consistent with my experience. It is overrated by comparison on this tripadvisor site. VERY expensive for what it offers,
